Satan is one of those other man made tools to control the masses. In biblical times this is that which controlled the people and kept them in line with what the powers that be wanted. People that were unsure and not able to understand the spiritual path set before them were afraid and would not get out of line because Satan was there to consume them if they disobeyed. Satan came up later on in the biblical chapters. He was part of a large diabolical plan to control.

Satan was never an important part of christian religion actually. It has been brought up as a scapegoat to explain all the evil of the world which was incompatible with the theory that God actually loves and protects us.
In the first covenant, God wasn't that nice. So it was ok if some people got burnt alive. But with the second covenant and the whole Jesus thing, suddenly God became all-loving, all nice. He just would never hurt us again. So there is no explanation left for all the evil you can see every day.
Obviously if a child gets raped and God knows everything and could do anything, but does nothing to prevent that (like bolting the raper) then he is guilty/evil. So Satan was used as an explanation for that discrepancy. It's not God who doesn't care for us, it's Satan that hurts us. However this contradicts the idea that God is almighty. It has become a 50/50 theory where good fight evil but never wins (or loses completely either).
Satan has also been used as a new name for all other gods, since the existence of a unique God precludes the existence of any other. That's why in many southern american cultures their original deities are reffered to as devils (demonios) even thought they still worship them.

God made Satan, and in the beginning, he lived in heaven. He was actually an angel. But, then he became overwhelmed with the desire for power, which caused his fall. Now, God knew full well when He created Satan that this would happen, but He created him anyways. Why? Because without Satan, there would not be true love. How does this work, you ask? Well, if God were the only choice we had, that is, we could follow Him and Him only, some would not wish to do so. Everyone would worship God, but there are still those who would rather not. It would be like one of those dolls, you know, the ones that have a string in the back. If the owner pulls the string, the doll says "I love you". It says it, but does it mean what it is saying? No, it is merely obeying it's master. There is no passion or love behind the words it speaks. The same is true for God. God loves the pure of heart, He loves those who show their sincerity. Thus, He created Satan. Because Satan exists, we now have a choice: worship God, or worship Satan. If we do choose to follow God, we will be sincere, because we CHOSE to. This is true love, because it is by our will that we chose this path. I hope this makes sense, God bless!

God made Satan...Satan was God's #2 guy, the most powerful angel. Well, Satan got power hungry so God kicked Him out of His army. That's why Satan's called the Fallen Angel
And Satan is Lucifer. He has different names
Kinda like Simon is now Peter and Levi is now Matthew...

The angel that became Satan(meaning Resister)and Devil (meaning Slanderer) was created a perfect spirit creature, who lived in the heavens with Jehovah's other spirit sons.As with all of Jehovah's intelligent creation, the angels were given free will.It was this gift of free will that Satan abused and disobeyed God and rebelled against him, thereby becoming Satan the Devil

God made Satan. Satan was the most beautiful angel in heaven God gave him that privilege. just that Satan started to become conceited and wanted to be greater than God so he took Satan and his followers(a couple other angels) that adored Satan and made him a kingdom of his own underground that is known as hell.

Human beings made Satan because they wanted an answer to all of the evil in the world. At least that's what I believe.

God did, according to your religion.
People are going to say this is not true. However, according to Christianity, God made EVERYTHING. E-ver-y-thing. INCLUDING Satan.
Some will tell you Satan is Lucifer... two seperate beings. Even so, Lucifer is an Angel... and Angels were created by God. Lucifer chose to go to Hell to guard the gates to make sure no demons or souls left. Which does not make him evil.
Ironic, no? God loves you all so much... then he went and made Satan!

Man created satan in his own image, the same way he created god.
Why? because superstitious pre-scientific man needed a scapegoat for the random "evils" that seemed to happen
