Hi Rose. I am very sorry, but I'm afraid I have never heard that poem before. However, I do have a suggestion for you. There is a forum on Abebooks called the "book sleuth" section where voracious readers from all over try to figure out obscure book references. They are true book wizards, and if anyone can help I would think they could. I realize this is a poem you're referring to, not a book, but hopefully if you post this question on their forum, someone will recognize it. You will have to register for an account to post your question.
I would recommend that you post as much detail as you possibly can about the poem (as you did here). Your age and when you heard this does help a lot, because it pinpoints the time of the poem, so I would suggest you give them that info, too.
