Lebanon allowed a terrorist group, Hezbollah, to cross the border into Israel to attack Israeli soldiers (killed 3) and capture 2 more soldiers.

Israel responded by attacking Lebanon's infrastructure bc they were worried that Lebanon would try to move the captured soldiers into Iran or Syria for hiding purposes. They also attacked areas in Lebanon where Hezbollah's leaders and weapons were thought to be hidden and/or stored.

The Arab countries have repeatedly said that they would prefer that a Jewish state be eliminated. As a result, Israel can only respond to this type of violence with even more violence to prove to the Middle East that it will not stand for these acts.

Israel has said that the violence would stop if Lebanon returned its captured soldiers, but so far, Israel's request has been denied.

soldiers and took across the border into Lebanon and they would not return them so Israel started bombing Lebanon to make the government get the 2 soldiers back.

Basically, Lebanon has been allowing terrorist attacks to be launched against Israel from their soil. Israel appears to have run out of patience.
