Well, I am an atheist and I am not a teenager. My bitterness towards most christians came about because many christians tried to convert me without hearing my thoughts. They damned me to hell and have said a lot of junk about atheism. When neither groups have been proven to be correct but we just have our beliefs. I usually accept people for who they are unless they somehow put me down. Which most christians here have and they are only brewing up a hate inside me against them. I understand hate isn't good but some people just beg for it. No other religion has ever judged me because I am an atheist. They accepted it but most christians can't. They may have been taught by the "all-knowing bible" that they have to "convert" others or else it's a sin. But they should share their beliefs so people might want to hear it instead of shoving it down atheists throats. When people shove their beliefs down my throat, I tend to ignore them and not want to hear any of their thoughts but when someone is sensible and understanding, I will listen.
I also sometimes feel more intelligent than some christians because they just recite verses from the bible, showing no thought from their own mind. True intelligence comes from your own thoughts and aren't layed out on paper in front of you. If a christian can answer one of my questions without the bible aiding them, I respect them as an intelligent human being.
I may ask silly questions on here about christians but I am just trying to light up the place although some take me seriously. The religion section here is very hateful if you haven't already noticed. Today a christian answered someones question about why atheists hate christians and her response pushed me over the edge because I have never said anything that ignorant and intolerable about anyone before. It didn't hurt emotionally it just made me feel sorry for that person because she obviously wasn't able to tolerate someones beliefs. That proves that there are also christians who are idiots and fad followers idiotic atheists. I truly believe there is no god because it doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't know; they think it's sophisticated. Materialism has been touted by the socialists and communists for so long, and these subjects are taught in colleges as "continental philosophy" or "political science," and so they figure since they got it in college, it must be smart. Actually, the more intelligent ones call themselves agnostic: they admit they don't know, perhaps contend that it is not possible to know, but generally have more reasoned arguments.
My own take on the whole thing is that dialectical materialism (the backbone of communism) is not just stupid, it's intellectually indefensible. To say that it doesn't even matter whether there is such a thing as a soul or a spiritual aspect to life is ridiculous in the extreme.
Certainly it is morally indefensible, since logically it leads to contending that there is no particular value to the truth over a convenient lie, and that dishonesty is politically expedient and therefore justified. Actually, they don't even bother with words like "justified;" too immaterial.

Because the ones your are referring to (the ones who only think they know what they are talking about) generally grew up in an atheist family and never had a reason to believe otherwise so they never researched it or an other religions. Same goes for some Christians. They assume that simply saying that the reason they believe in God is because the bible says.... and that does absolutely nothing for someone who doesn't believe so they sound ignorant to an atheist but to a Christian it is an "Amen" statement. Until each of these groups experience what the other does they will both sound ignorant to each other.

I agree with what you're saying, but you have to be careful. Calling them "idiotic" is only going to get them fired up and turn them off to whatever good insights any Christian has to offer. Thus, this whole site would be having an adverse effect, and we'd be unevangelizing the people who come here with all of their problems and burdens seeking more than just a fight. If you want to show them that God exists, you must act like God: "Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect." If you want to evangelize, you must lead by example, and this isn't a good example to set.
Looking at all the answers thus far, you can already see the adverse effect your question has had... It will take much more work to rebuild these bridges than to tear them down...

Oh please -- a half ounce of brains would suffice to not believe in the mumbo-jumbo the Christian Church has been spoon-feeding its flock. Geez, to think the Catholic Church took until the 1990s to pardon Gallileo for suggesting the sun and everything else didn't orbit the earth. Nobody anymore believes in the gods the Romas, the Greeks, and the ancient Egyptians worshipped. Although in the case of the ancient Egyptians, a sun god and a cat god make a lot more sense.

It's the same question. Why are Christians convinced they're the only correct ones?
It's all a self-indulged illusion they partake it. A sweet moment of breath for them, whisked away in their own dream world, which they see as true. They refuse to believe any other world other than their own to be true. And, for their each respective worlds, they are the most intelligent and truthful. The problem is when these world collides.

i just love how you lump everyone together.
i find it ironic that you point out teenagers who are atheists and don't have actual knowledge of things, be it because they grew up in an atheist family or following a fad....
when the same goes to a teenager of a Christian family. out of all the people i know, i would say only one or two teenagers out of the whole lot are actually "Christians." the rest are following a fad... or use the label because they grew up in a Christian family.
oh, please.
this whole question is inaccurate and shallow of you.

Why are you trying to start an arguement? When you put people down, you are only putting yourself on the bottom under them.
You must be board or something. Your question accomplishes nothing.I am a Christian and I am not idiotic, and Christianity is not a fad. That's your ignorant opinion.

Because God said so!!!!! Just kidding.
If u think about it, to be an Atheist one has to question, investigate and be educated, because u r a bit of a rebel like Jesus or Buddha. They (Jesus and Buddha) were rebels in their time. They went against the established BS. Jesus was crucified and Buddha's teaching was kicked out of India later.
But today Jesus and Buddha are revered around the world.
Maybe the atheists are right and the future is not for us to see.

Because... on average... they ARE more intelligent. There are about 20 studies, conducted over a period of 80 years, that reveal a statistically significant NEGATIVE correlation between intelligence and religiosity. In plainer language, they found that the more intelligent a person is, the LESS likely he is to be religious.
If you think about it, this makes a lot of sense. Intelligence tests mainly provide an indication of reasoning ability and problem solving ability... critical thought. These are the very qualities that see through religion, and recognize it for what it is; i.e., religion cannot survive the glaring light of reason and critical thought.
Christian beliefs are rooted in the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a bunch of Bronze Age goat herders...without the least bit of credible evidence. Those beliefs include a terrarium universe, talking snakes and donkeys, demons, friendly spirits, evil spirits, raising from the dead, stopping the sun in its tracks, parting seas, world-wide floods, creating people from dust and ribs, magical trees of knowledge, god speaking from a burning bush... and ritual cannibalism by eating your god in the form of a cracker.
It was well understood by important figures in religious history that these ridiculous beliefs could never stand up to the power of reason. This is why the early church destroyed all the writings that were in conflict with dogma, such as Greek philosophical, medical and mathematical knowledge... which led directly to the Dark Ages. They needed to eliminate everything that made sense, and deny people access to knowledge.
Just to illustrate the point, let's see what Martin Luther, the 'father' of protestantism, had to say about it:
"Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense, and understanding, and whatever it sees must be put out of sight and ... know nothing but the word of God." ~ Martin Luther
"Reason is the Devil's greatest whore; by nature and manner of being she is a noxious whore; she is a prostitute, the Devil's appointed whore; whore eaten by scab and leprosy who ought to be trodden under foot and destroyed, she and her wisdom ... Throw dung in her face to make her ugly. She is and she ought to be drowned in baptism... She would deserve, the wretch, to be banished to the filthiest place in the house, to the closets." ~ Martin Luther
"Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but -- more frequently than not -- struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God." ~ Martin Luther
"There is on earth among all dangers no more dangerous thing than a richly endowed and adroit reason... Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed." ~ Martin Luther
"Reason should be destroyed in all Christians." ~ Martin Luther
Religion is nothing more than a criminal business enterprise... in fact, it is the world's longest running and most successful Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scam. But, it only works on those who are gullible enough to fall for it. However, there are a lot more people who DON'T know how to think than there are people who DO know how to think. That is why there are a lot more religious people in the USA than there are 'tree-thinkers'... including Atheists.

"Selling eternal life is an unbeatable business, with no customers ever asking for their money back after the goods are not delivered." ~ Victor J. Stenger

"Businesses may come and go, but religion will last forever, for in no other endeavor does the consumer blame himself for product failure." ~ Harvard Lamphoon, "Doon" (paraphrase)
