This is going to sound weird, but my parents used to tell me that my dad would wash my mom's hair, and smell her scalp when he got done. He was able to tell that she was pregnant (she was on the pill, so she didn't believe him). I always found this a little far fetched.

But, when I was a teenager, I had a close friend who got pregnant at 14, she came to our house and he smelled her scalp on the sly. He waited til she left to ask me was she pregnant and I told him no (which was a lie, the reason she came over was to confide in me that she was pregnant). He's also smelled my scalp ove rthe years

I would ask him what it smelled like, and he said he couldn't really describe it. He's deceased now so I can't ask him again. Just wondering if anyone else ever heard of this?

I do have to say that is pretty weird...but I do believe that your dad might have been able to do that if he really believed in it. But it isn't wierd to smell anyone scalp because for me, I do smell my kids scalps all the time...they all have a distinct smell that I just love to smell them...and it is like I know them by smelling them. If I were to be blindfold...and asked which of my kids scalps it would be...I bet I could do it without any mistake. :o) My kids thinks I am wierd especially when I hug them...and I will automatically smell them as I kiss them...it is just my way of grasping them in my love....you know?? I don't know how t explain it...so I am sure your dad had a way....also it is known as a fact for any male, human or animal, really can smell a woman and be able to tell if they are menstrating or changing(like pregnancies)...because that is a very strong smell that we aren't aware of ourselves...but are very noticeable to any man. it is more with the animals of course....than so in humans. I remember one time my husband and I were talking about men and women...and somehow we got talking about how males can really smell women...and how he could tell if I was about to have mine...he said it would give out a musky smell like....I am thinking ...oh god...do I smell bad!!! No one wants to know how they smell!!!
Anyway...wierd or not...you should cherish that about your dad...as it was your dad's special way of cherishing his women in his family...as a sign of his being proud of you because he could recoinize with you. I hope this is making sense!!

My husband swears that I smell differently throughout different times of the month. He can tell when I am ovulating, or when I am due for my period. I think some people, especially men, are very adept at detecting changes in a woman's hormones, which I am sure has to do with the amount of pheromones that a woman is producing at any given moment.

I've never heard of that, but I'm sure that it is true. I've always heard of people using a needle and thread to tell if a pregnant woman is having a boy or girl. It's something about the direction that the needle points in.

That's very interesting. He might have had a "sense" about that. I'd be interested to know if anyone else in the family has an ability to sense things like pregnancy. I've never heard of that before!

nicely, it could smell distinctive, yet no longer inevitably a foul smell. i've got observed that mine smells distinctive than whilst i'm no longer pregnant, and it even smells distinctive from my first being pregnant. i'm useful it is purely a hormonal element because of the fact the physique's chemistry is changing.

This sounds a bit weird to me but if his method really worked then it worked. Stranger things have been used.
