You have to plan on rejection. You also have to plan to reject the ones you don't like. No one likes rejection. Some people just handle it better. You don't want to come off as a wimp, either. Until the right one comes around, you will get rejected. The easiest way to get over rejection is go out and find a date that same day or the very next day. Remember most people have been rejected.

If you are too afraid to leave the shore how will you ever explore the ocean?
It's really hard to get back into the dating world, everyone is afraid of rejection. For every person that rejects you it brings you that much closer to finding your soul mate.
Just jump in with both feet and don't worry about what "might" happen. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Everyone is afraid of rejection. But sometimes we have to face it. It hurts but doesn't mean it is a bad thing because it may not be what you need. Here is something I say frequently --- "sometimes it is the words that you don't use that are important." You won't know what you are missing out on if you worry too much. Try to use your "real" personality and go out there and mingle. If someone intersts you, talk to them. Don't rush anything. I'm 48 so you are still a baby - :)

Hi! Unfortunately rejection is a part of life and love , no matter who you are, how old you are or what you look like...you just have to look at rejection the same way that models do when they go to a casting...It's not rejection, it's just that you don't fit "what we're looking for". It's just a matter of finding someone you is looking for someone like you!...
Figure out what you are interested in and go be social in that scene...if it's comics you like, hang out at the local comic book store, network on the comic con websites, etc...I know it's cliche advice...but i hope it helps

Well,at the age of 44,you'd be set in your ways,so,why would you bring someone into that? Be sure you're willing to change your life to accomodate someone else. If the answer is still no,then stay alone. You're better off with one night stands, why involve someone if you're not committed. Then,if you're serious, try online dating, but be wary, and good luck =o))

44 year olds are hot. Just work out, take care of yourself and meet some girls over the internet if you are too shy. It's not too late for you.

you have to learn not to be afraid and maybe that is the reason that you cant find a girlfriend. its about putting yourself out there for someone to get to know who you really are. you would have to change your surroundings and go out more, socialize and get to know other people and im sure you will find someone in no time. you have to know that rejection will happen at times, but it wont happen all the time.. someone will find you when your not looking for someone to be with. i beleive there is someone for everyone

Take pride in your appearance, I'm not saying you dont cause I don't know you. And join a social event or club. Buck up your courage, there was no one worse than me, and I had to learn to trust again. I'm now with someone and happy.Good luck!!
