In the first place, the part of Leviticus that always gets quoted is a small part of the so-called "purity codes" that were designed to help the Jews to survive after Moses led them out of Egypt. They have a bunch of things in there that nobody follows today. It's not just about men with men, but about food, and clothing, and crops and divorce, and adultery and more stuff.

In the New Testament, Jesus tells us that everything is changed. The Law is not the law anymore. YOU are a new creation. That you should love your neighbor and that Loving God and loving your neighbor as yourself is the greatest commandment.

While Jesus never made any statement about women as priests, he treated women and equals, and broke some of the rules where he should not have talked to women in certain situations, but he did. And he always was inclusive of the people who were excluded by others. So he included women, and prisoners, and the handicapped and others.

It is a church where control is held tightly by men that forbids women their full role in some churches. There are plenty of Christian churches where women share a full and equal role!

well it is. Also, we're just getting silly here. Why would it be wrong for men and OK for women; especially since homosexuality is the issue that makes it a sin? You would have to establish that first. And let's be honest--not everything is the same man for woman, but some things are. For instance, if I say, "I want no man to walk on the grass" does that mean it's OK for women to walk on the grass? How the spoke in 1611 designated the word man as standing for the human race. Beyond that, it is clear from Romans 1 that lesbianism is a sin.

sound like a loophole your lookin for...

First when you say "church" form the word kuriaken for Lord
Shouldn't someone who claims Jesus as Lord follow what is revealed as careful as they can?

Church refers to people who believe in the New Testament not just Leviticus and the issues you address are addressed far more specifically in Romans and 1 Corinthians

women often do vote and discuss issues. most often women do not teach or excersie authority over men, however do significant work on vacation bible school and missions and other things and in no way are inferior. Women are often the largest voting group and elect the men who run the church oftentimes

People talk in church any way, men and women. Queen Victoria said "Women don't do that kind of thing" she meant sleeping together, so no one taks about it. People in the past thought that women were seperate from men and that they didn't read and were sub-human, they were beneath men. That might explain lack of detail in Leviticus.

Here's a secret....women do talk in church.

Alright, alright...I'll explain why lesbian activity is a sin.

First off, in the Commandments, it tells us not to committ adultery, correct? If you don't believe me, it's in Exodus 20. Now to define adultery: having sexual relations with someone else when you are not married to him/her. Therefore, if you even have a thought about having sex (as Jesus tells us in Matthew) with someone other than a spouse, it is a sin. To take it to the next step: in Genesis 2:24, it states "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh" In other words, marriage is between a man and a woman.

In other words, lesbian activity is a SIN.

Good point!

It's not really clear why Paul says this about women keeping silent in church. In other places in his writing he clearly has women speaking in church. We may be missing the context of why this statement was made; most likely it was never intended to forbid women to preach or pray publicly.

Many things in the Bible are subject to interpretation...and not always meant to be taken literally. Remember...it was written in a whole different era...and although you cannot deny the wisdom and messages it contains...God loves you regardless of who you are...He made us the way we are...and anything you can do as a human being is understood in Heaven...much more than us. We are loved equally...and it is more important to know who you are in relation to the rest of the world...and to never intentionally hurt another. We must respect our differences. It is for a reason.

Yes, in Leviticus chapter 18 it talks about men not lying with men as they do with women. Here is the passage that talks about that as well as some other 'detestable' sexual acts, starting with verse 6:

6 "'No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the Lord. 7 "'Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her. 8 "'Do not have sexual relations with your father's wife; that would dishonor your father. 9 "'Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere. 10 "'Do not have sexual relations with your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter; that would dishonor you. 11 "'Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father's wife, born to your father; she is your sister. 12 "'Do not have sexual relations with your father's sister; she is your father's close relative. 13 "'Do not have sexual relations with your mother's sister, because she is your mother's close relative. 14 "'Do not dishonor your father's brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt. 15 "'Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife; do not have relations with her. 16 "'Do not have sexual relations with your brother's wife; that would dishonor your brother. 17 "'Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness. 18 "'Do not take your wife's sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living. 19 "'Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period. 20 "'Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor's wife and defile yourself with her. 21 "'Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord. 22 "'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. 23 "'Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.

Verse 22 talks about men having sex with men and that it is destestable.
If you go to Romans, chapter 1, starting with verse 26 you'll see the part about women with women being . So it DOES refer to women also having sex with other women as being evil, depravity and and wicked.

26 Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.

As far as WOMEN not talking in church, Paul said that because women sat away from the men and the new Christian women would ask questions of their husbands during the preaching, interrupting the service. Paul told the women to ask their questions when they get home and to be quiet in church. Too many churches today interpret that to mean women have NO say whatsoever in church.

1 Corinthians 14, starting with verse 33 says this:
33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints,
34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful (or disrespectful) for a woman to speak in the church.

I suggest you do some serious Bible studying, get involved with a good Bible study group.
