Because they can! (This isn't sarcasm.) Around 18 months, most babies have figured out how to start taking their clothes off and some have even discovered that they can take their diapers off as well. This is just another developmental milestone.
Good luck . . . it only gets worse! LOL

freedom and Independence. The more of a big deal you make it, the more they want to run around naked. Company or not. My youngest son was almost always naked from the age of 1 till 4! Then he almost had to be spanked to keep his clothes on. He's over it now.

It's fairly normal for kids to not want to wear the clothes. The reason they wait until around that age is because they are only just mastering the skills needed to remove the clothing. My 4 year old still runs around the house naked. She knows she hsa to wear clothing everywhere else, but I can't get her to keep clothing on inside our own home yet.

Babies are innocent and they don't know that the whole world isn't so they just like running around buck naked for the freedom they feel and it's fun for them cause they think they are getting away with something.

I think it's because they know how to take their clothes off and so what ever they can do they do. My middle son did it till he was 3. We would walk in the door and the first thing he would do is get naked.

It was the opposite with me. I tried to take other people's clothes off at that age.

They know how good it feels and they are protesting at having to give up that natural style! They're saying, "Screw you and your stifling clothes, world, I'm gonna run around free and nekkid!!!" Smarter than adults, some might say.

Natural behavior! We've been brainwashed to think clothing is normal and the body is bad...other way around and babies know!
