Many fast food places have great salads now. Check out there Salads or if they have fruit. If you want a sandwich from like McDonald's try their grilled chicken and instead of the fried. Also try eating at Subway most of their subs are very healthy for you and it usually something the whole family can enjoy. Wendy's now has better choices too. Like yogurt and Mandarin oranges especially for kids meals. You can also look at a nutritional information packet if they have them. Most places do. Have a great trip!!

take along a cooler, with fresh fruit, cheese, crackers, nuts, canned tuna, and raw veggies. You can eat at rest stops, and save yourself calories and money by staying out of fast food places at least part of the time. If you want to eat at McDonald's and such places, go for the grilled chicken options---nothing breaded or deep fried. If you order salad, use the dressing very sparingly. Drink water or unsweetened tea instead of soda.

You have to be very careful eating even "healthy" choices for fast food. I find Wendy's to be the best choice.

They have several salads that are low in fat as long as you get low fat or fat free dressing. Also the chili and plain baked potatoes are good choices. One of my favorites is the potato, I then put the chili on top of it. Then I have a side salad with low fat dressing. Very filling and one of the better choices.

If you are going to McDonald's the Asian Chicken salad is good. Although, I love McDonald's fries, so I do sometimes get a cheeseburger and small fry as a treat.

Arby's is a good choice, their jr. roast beef is one of the best choices for fast food sandwiches.

Be careful of grilled chicken entrees as they often either cook or marinate them in oil based sauces and can be high in fat still.

most fast food places offer salads, which are about as healthy as you can get on the road. you can always add some chicken nuggets to the salad if you want the protein, but keep in mind it cuts down the nutrition drastically, lol.

you might want to consider bringing along snacks of fruits, raisins, carrots, etc -- they'll help fill you up between meals so you don't go overboard when you stop.

have a safe trip!

Grilled chicken is healthier. Turkey ham as opposed to regular ham. Ham and fat free cheese snacks or just cheese snacks. Instead of eating McDonalds opt for sub restaurants like Subway or Quiznos or any sub or sandwich place is better than burgers.

Some places also have baked chips instead of traditional chips. Of course you can also pack a cooler and carry sandwiches and drinks. Nuts are also good for you, and you can easily take apples or grapes to snack on as well. Iced teas , Arizona teas are supposed to be better as well, instead of soda or sugary juices.

Then stop at Subway, NOT at McDonald's or 7-11 or Burger King.Drink water or some kinds of juice but not pop, and bring along fruit in a cooler.

You don't mention how long the trip will be. If it's just a couple of days, I would pack a cooler of healthy foods and snacks.

If you can't pack the majority of your meals, go to Subway while you are on the road.

By packing your meals, I mean putting veggies, fruits and sandwiches or wraps in a cooler.
