IT IS I THINK THE 2ND OR 3RD LANGUAGE MOSTLY SPOKEN AFTER ENGLISH. If its the 3rd it s because China takes the toll from so many ppl there speaking Chinese.
It is the second language after English that is taught now in Europe because of it connects other races and countries to the Spanish speaking people which are millions.ES UNA NECESIDAD (ITS A NEED).
Many variations of the Spanish language but it is certainly a beautiful language too. With much romance and derived from the root of Latin. There are things one cannot express in English because the meaning only exists in latin culture whre the sayings and words come about.
As is the fact for other clanguage and cultures.
Fyi Sweden, where I lived and I am very familiar with, a very far away country in the Scandinavian section of Europe, it is in almost all schools to teach children and adults Spanish along with English! Why? One above. Two? Yes Spanish speaking people are many in this world, and if you know Spanish you will understand better Italian and French. You have the skill to be bilingual or trilingual and you are an asset to the world.
Believe me. I speak several languages, so does my family, my nieces speak 6 languages, and the opportunities are not only economical knowing them. You get to really know other worlds, cultures, and traditions and you appreciate the entire world as one.
You have to enroll in a class to learn at first. Interaction with real Spanish speakers is very important. Follow with TV in S panish and realize there is many cultures withint Spanish speakers too. So there are many different ways of saying things , accents, and the way people do things. Spain is very different from say some parts of Mexico. But in a nutshell we are romantic people, we tend to follow same rules and love God, and that unites Spanish speakers too.
It’s a powerful tool for you to learn Spanish. AT least you will also understand what those who do not speak Englsish around you say.
Another reason is that it makes communication easy between countries and people, and avoids mistakes in the writen language that can inflame people and target you as violent or inciting hate wihtout you even knowing it.
I posted a question that inflamed the minds of some “Caucasians” (I was told to use that word instead of the word white bc the whord incites racism). Ok. So Caucasians it is. I simply translated into English the way we speak in Spain and I got threatened by this one person that wrote me an essay of hate itself. All because I had no idea AMericans had prohibited almost by law or something that the word white or black incites hate or discrimination. That does not happen in our country nor in Spanish.
I simply posted a legitimate question but forgot to add the “some” and wrote it the way it is written in another language. Where I come from, Spain, we do not see things in words wrong as you do. Like white being racist word. Nobody here says “los caucasicos” Dios Mio! So it is hard to talk also with THIS “SOME” because everything said is twisted many tiems by SOME people. Then verbal violence or written ones explode within 3 minutes of the tolerance factor that has been proven that many Americans have. Instead of trying to make the misunderstanding cleared and not fight and not threaten with violence or I WILL REPORT YOU AND I HOPE THAT EVERYBODY REPORTS YOU attitude before one is fully understood and arrive to the conclusion that I mean good not bad and that it is wording that is so different in cultures and countries.
SO NOW, DO YOU THINK SPANISH IS IMPORTANT?

Spanish is important if you live in the U.S because of the large and increasing Hispanic population. It is practical to learn Spanish in the U.S. The best way to learn Spanish is to be totally immersed in it. If you could live and go to school in Mexico for one year, then you would be getting the best immersion possible. If that is not possible, then I have reviewed all the popular Spanish Learning Programs and in my opinion, Rosetta Stone is the best despite the fact that the many web sites that purport to be neutral in their judgment seem to put down Rosetta Stone. I got demos from Rosetta, Learning Like Crazy, Rocket Spanish and Visual Link. Rosetta Stone stands out alone as the best. I spent five months in Guatemala, in Antigua, at a school called Proyecto Linguistico Francisco Marroquín. My foundation in Spanish is therefore very strong, and that also has to be factored into my assessment that Rosetta Stone is the best. I already know the grammar so the absence of grammar per se is not noticeable to me. However, I still recommend it to beginners because children in Spanish countries learn the language before they learn the grammar. That is the true immersion needed to learn a language. Rosetta Stone comes the closest in my opinion unless you live in a Spanish country.

Spanish is easily to learn, just study the easy conjugation of the words and vocabulary. Watch Spanish or Mexican movies for you can pick conversational language in the dialogues. Spanish is one of the major languages used in the world. When you go to Latin America, Asia and Africa, Spanish is widely spoken because many of the countries thereat are former Spnaish colonies.

I'm not sure what exactly your question refers to... I myself am a language teacher and I can assure you vocabulary IS important - no doubt about that... If what you have in mind is what could be a useful way of learning vocabulary, then, I would strongly recommend doing it within a context - I mean, with examples, in phrases. That way you don't just memorize a word or phrase - you see how it is used and you can make an analogy more easily. Hope I've been at least a little bit useful! Good luck.

Enroll in a Spanish class or go to a bookstore and buy some Spanish books.
Importance of that language? What do you mean? It's important to be able to speak more than one language.

Your local library will have books and tapes that you can borrow.
Whether we like it or not, looks like Spanish will soon be muy importanto in our lives. But then I learned it in high school long before any of this controversy started and it is a pretty language.
