I went out with this man the other day. He invites me for ice cream but when he gets in the shop he exclaims "Dang! This ice cream is expensive" then proceeds to ask me what I want. I was so put off by this that I said that I did not want anything and if I did get something I would buy it myself. He orders ice cream and proceeds to eat it and I started reading an assignment. He got mad, but I told him I'm not a gold digger. You obviously could not afford the ice cream. This all happened yesterday. Why would a grown (in his 30s) man do this?

I should add, usually when we go on dates I pay for my items or I buy. He suggested we go for ice cream, not me. I have spent much more than $3.00 for his itmes and never said a word. I have watched him try to order everything off the menu and never cried. Where I am from, when we invite people out we pay no matter how much. If we can't pay we don't invite.

i experience this problem oftenly ,especially happen wheh im building a new relationship with a woman / having a friendship with a woman.

most women i know dont like to pay from their pocket.
they like to assume that men will pay if they want something, and if the men offer them something.
only when the men fell bother with that (feel had paid too much/its expensive)and mention it, some women for their esteem, will said will pay by themselves.

i dont know with other men,but for me, i usually mention price
only when i feel the girl had ask too much/the girl i feel r gold digger/i unpurposely had mention it while actually i dont want, but wups just had split out from my mouth since the fact is expensive.
or because the man is stingy

Well, maybe it was expensive. It's quite normal for people to comment about the price of things, especially when they get older. Maybe he was just trying to make conversation or something. He obviously didn't think it was all that expensive if he ordered himself some. It may not have been the smartest thing for him to say, but it still sounds like you overreacted.
