OK- watch out for terms here:

"TUMOR" is just a term for swelling- it describes the SYMPTOM, not the diagnosis nor the cause.

"ABSCESS" is her DIAGNOSIS- it is defined as a tumor with pus. But it has many different causes. the puropse of the biopsy would have been to figure out the cause. Cultures and stains from teh biopsy will telll if your sister has any of the following DISEASES:

Bacterial lymphadenitis (infection of the lymph node due to bacteria), or

Cat Scratch Disease (caused by a newly discovered infectious agent), or

Mycobacterial lymphadenitis (caused by tuberculosis or a related germ)

I had a similar tumor. Basically it turned out to be an infected lymph node. When they did the lancing biopsy they only found white blood cells...pus. After that I went in and had it cut and drained, and a few antibiotics later I'm back to normal. Mine was on the back of the neck close to the hairline.

Didn't your sister tell you anything?
Perhaps no tumor.............only ingrown hair that will feel like small tumor, but puss inside....
