With two large dogs one goes through dog food fairly fast, so I'm trying to find something that is not real expensive but still a quality diet. I have a Costco membership and noticed their "Super Premium Adult Lamb and Rice" dog food today. They also had a Chicken and Vegetables blend. The ingredients looked good - no by-products, etc., but I'm not an expert when it comes to individual food analysis.

Does anyone feed this brand to their dogs? Has your experience been good/bad? Thanks so much!

The first ingredient was lamb, the second was lamb meal, and the third was brown rice....

Yes, yes yes yes yes! Kirkland is the generic version of one of Diamond's food (I don't remember which style off the top of my head). It is a very high quality feed. I give it to my four dogs and have had seen a significant reduction of skin and hair problems, and the four I have all have thicker, fuller coats than their same-breed friends who eat Purina's Pro Plan. We used to feed the lamb based food but were told that the chicken decreases flatulance so we switched and have not had a problem. I highly recommend it.

Don't know about Costco food - I'd be a bit wary of it, but it might be fine. The ingredients list you wrote sounds fine. They probably get their food from another unnamed manufacturer - look for it on the label (mfg for Costco by:xxxx)

I have always thought that IAMS and Eukanuba were overpriced for the quality of the ingredients! Low residue foods can sometimes cause intestinal problems - it's natural and healthy for the undigested materials to move out of the dog's system.

Look for a food that does NOT have "by products" in the ingredients list or you'll be paying a lot of money for garbage.

Personally, I like Nutro - it has no by products and is reasonably priced and my dogs have done fine on it for more than 10 years. They make canned and dry dog foods for puppies and adults. Any changes in diet should be made slowly to avoid diarrhea - gradually mix more new food in with what you've been using until he's switched over.

Who Makes Costco Dog Food

people said science diet or iams. These are not good foods. The food at costco i know nothing about but i do know if the first main ingrediants are meat it is better even though you are feeding your dog the scraps that aren't fit for human consumption and could be cancerous and etc. The barf diet and fresh veggies are best.

If the first ingredient was meat, and the second was a carbohydrate it was probably a decent food. If there was corn, cornmeal, or some other filler (be careful of meat meals, they are not actually meat) they are full of things that are cheap for the manufacturer but not nutritious for your dogs. You are better off spending the money on a premium food. You dogs will need to eat less food to get the nutrition that they need.

Your better with Science Diet from a pet supply store. Less poopy waste with this brand too and dogs seem to like it alot. Other wannabe brands will call themselves premium to make them look good but the truth is they are generally too high in proteins and will make your dog poop too much and all over the place . Stick with whats best for your dog.
