Mariah, I know exactly how you feel. With the best of intentions I end up foregoing reading everyday and then end up feeling horribly guilty. One of the things I did was to get the bible on cd's. That way I can listen to it when I'm in the bathtub or on my way to or from work, or any other time that I have time to listen but not necessarily sit down and read - while I'm doing laundry, dishes, etc. Of course now I have the opposite problem. If I don't listen I feel twice as guilty because I no longer have an excuse for not having done so.

If some part of me didn't think that you were probably serious, i'd burst into a fit of laughter that would last several minutes. But for the sake of being nice, and fair, i will offer you a humble suggestion. A TV show or reading the bible? Tough choice it seems--at least for you. I guess the main thing is for you to answer for yourself the question of why you have a desire to read the bible at all. If it's something akin to the desire one feels when he or she wants to read a good novel that everyone has been talking about, then I guess reading the bible could be put off until anytime that is suitable for you. Open the bible, read through a few boring passages and, oops, your doorbell rings and its time to go hang out at the mall with a few girlfriends. In this way, reading the bible is nothing more than an insignificant chore that you do only if you have the time. But if your goal is to read the words of God so that you can get a better understanding of what His purpose for you is in this world, then im not exactly sure that it would even be a question of which course to take. If you want to know God, to find the correct path to better enrich your life and soul, then I'd sugest you start by making the sacrifice of putting your TV show off and spending it with His words. You are going to have to get used to making sacrifices for the Lord anyway, so you might as well start by sacrificing your morning episodes of Barney. In the end, who knows, it may even be worth it.

Find a time of day that you know that you will have some free time. Then, place a sticky note with a reminder on it *in a place you are sure to see it* at that time of day. After a while, it will become a habit.
It is not a question of whether or not God comes first; if He didn't, you wouldn't be asking this question, you'd just forget about Him and watch TV. What the crucial point is, you need to consider your schedule, your life, your habits, and come up with a time that will work for you, when you don't have distractions.

The best answer to your question is to ask you where your priorities lye do U put God above everything u do if so then U can answer your own question. Dont turn the TV on during the time U want to set aside for you bible reading and do either one of two things tape the show or let that be a show u miss. Good Luck and God Bless.

You have the right spirit because at least you have the desire to read the Bible. Why not try buying the Bible on CD. This way you can listen to it while you are in the car or when you can in your house. Also google bible study on the internet. There are many free programs that can help you keep the Word in front of you.

Obviously reading the Bible isn't so important to you, cause you can't even make time for it. A stupid show is more important to you than God is. That is really sad. There are 24 hours in a day. Take one hour of your time at least and read the Bible. Find the time for God. He doesn't ask us for much.

You could read before you go to bed at night or maybe read after you eat lunch. The best thing to do is just set a certain time of day that you are going to read and try to stick with it.

I like to read before I go to bed, think about what you did that day and kind of plan out for the next day, besides, I'm not much of a morning person.
You could set your watch or leave a post it note, I have to do that sometimes.

People usually find the morning the best time to "get alone with God", usually 4 AM.
Try getting up at least 1/2 hour earlier.
Try tapping the show. If you do not watch it latter, it just shows that it really is not important (but Satan is just using it to keep you from God).
