Ah, an excellent beginning, grasshopper. Let's continue...

Did you create the Universe? Obviously not, or you would have given yourself a better role in it. Thus, something else must have created it.

Can a finite effect be self-caused? No, unless the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics is ignored, which it cannot be (go talk to a science whiz for this one). Thus, finite effects have an infinite cause.

What are some characteristics of this infinite cause? I leave it to you to continue the logical research and define the characteristics of the infinite cause.

Which worldview most closely resembles the characteristics you have ascribed to the infinite cause?

Done.

Now, please realize that proof of God can never be anything more than a degree of probability (either high or low), because the reference to "proof" is a reference to science and science can never prove anything to an absolute degree of certainty. More importantly, science, in and of itself, is totally lacking as a tool to "prove" the existence of God. Science can only ever describe the how or the universe, not the why. It's like using a fly swatter to split atoms -> wrong tool.

For a good place to start, try the first 4 chapters of "Unshakable Foundations" by Norm Geisler and Pete Bocchino.

Faith is something that's built up with time. First you need reason to believe, then you build up faith in it. I personally believe there's a God by reason of what I see every day. The sky, the moon, the stars, the flowers, the birds, the bees, the way I'm made, how different forms of life interact with each other, and so on, and so on, and so on. All these things tell me there had to be an intelligent being involved in the design.

I would say there are more reasons to belive there is or was a supreme being than there are reasons there is not.We are like a little pile of ants. We can only see so far. Our lifespan may only be a weeks time to something bigger. We could go ten generations between visits. There are so many unanswered questions that would lead to the answer there is a god.

Circular arguments is what it's all about with believers and it's all you'll ever get from them...they never have to face the absence of any reality or any evidence that way... it's all a lot of fluff smoke and mirrors in the end..no substance and nothing there at all.

The self-referencing Bible circular argument:

How do we know God is real
Because the Bible tells us so.
How do we know the Bible is true?
Because the Bible is the word of God.
How do we know the Bible is the word of God?
We know because the Bible tells us so.

I believe in God because, I find it reasonable that some higher being is responsible for pains and sufferings that happen far away from me. It's not good to force faith. It comes right at the moment.

It's not just about faith. Just take a look around. No one can truthfully see the beauty of a countryside, purple snow-capped mountains, hundreds of thousands of species of colorful fish in the ocean, and the freshness of Spring each year and not see God. One cannot marvel at the ORDER of things: minutes, hours, days, months, years, daybreak, sunset, birth and death, generation unto generation and not see God's hand at work. One cannot see the wonder of the human body and not see the work of God. One cannot think about our ability to think, consider, wonder, remember, design, speak, love, and feel without knowing it is of God. We are created in his likeness. When we see the good things about ourselves, we see the likeness of God.

And then if you are Catholic, you know that God's son Jesus (God made Man) existed because of his relics (such as the Shroud of Turnin), countless Eucharistic Miracles (Sacred Hosts that bleed, Sacred species (Blood of Christ) that liquifies on Feast Days, Hundreds Incorrupt Bodies of the Saints that you can visit in the Churches of Europe, Miracles such as the dancing of the sun witnessed by thousands of persons (and photographed) at Fatima, the picture of Our Lady of Good Cousel that hangs unsupported in a church (no nails or anything, it just sits in the air), the Miraculous Staircase that defies gravity at a chapel in Santa Fe, NM (believed to have been built by Saint Joseph after the nuns in a convent there prayed a 9 day novena to him). And countless witnesses of supernatural demonic occurances and countless other unexplainable-by-science wonders. It's not just about Faith. We've had plenty of signs over the centuries.

People who demand proof of God remind me of the disciple Thomas, who would not believe that Christ had risen until he had seen the wounds on His hands and feet.

How sad. Sad because the Gospel tells us that, after Christ had given Thomas the proof he had so smugly demanded, he wasn't happy -- he was ashamed and humbled.

Thomas believed only after he had been given proof -- and he wasn't happy. Happy are those, Christ said to Thomas at the time, who do not see, yet still believe.

Some people have come to know God by simply asking Him to make Himself real to the person.

Some people believe because of a healing that they or someone they know received from God.

Some people believe because they went to a church and asked for prayer. (I would suggest going to a Pentecostal or Apostolic churches, they usually have more Holly Ghost activity.)

the same reason anyone believed in Santa Clause. because they were told he was real.

slowly, you come to the realization that santa clause is not real, on your own, and your parents will eventaully encourage this.

except in the case of God, the parents and mentors never stopped believing
