Ok there are a couple of possibillities.

1. the bird was a pet and escaped. You say he didint have a legband he may be microchipped, and avian veterinarian can scan the bird for the chip and get the identification number and trck down the breeder, and find the owner.

2. Is he friendly? If not he may be a micro chipped breeder bird, just have him scanned by your avian veterinarian like I said.

3. I dont know what state you live in, but If you live in Forida, California, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, or Georgia. Your bird may have been born in the wild from a federalized colony of wild African Greys. And be wild in that case let him go.

If you have caught him or he'ss in your yard offer him freah fruit and water. And buy parrot seed, offer some nuts as well, DO NOT feed it chocolate or avacado it WILL kill it.

I hope you find where the bird belongs and return it to where it belongs

Or you can bring the bird to a shelter, or pet store, or avian veterinarian.

Grab your camera! Take a picture, then call animal control. Your picture is your documentation that you actually saw the bird, should it fly away before the proper authorities show up. Don't try to capture it yourself, leave that to the experts. Hopefully, they'll be able to figure out where it came from and return it to where it belongs!

Please try to catch it safely with a towel and put it somewhere safe. It's owner is probably going hysterical trying to find it. They are like our children. Contact Yahoo groups Parrot911 or africangreyparrotclub. Both groups can help you find his owner. Call the vets or emergency vets in the area and put the word out you find him. His owner will be so happy!

try to catch it, maybe with a net or bird feed? then drop it off at a shelter or create a temporary home for it while you check to see if anyone is missing one. ask around, it might be your neighbor's or something.

Call local animal shelter or the humane society. But please don't hurt it because it's just looking for it's home. But if you feel the need to catch it make sure it's safe in your home.
