Can someone give me advice maybe from a past experience. Here's the deal. For a while I've been wanting to move to Guadalajara and maybe find a job and a small apartment to live in. The problem is that I have no college education and was thinking of even going to college there. I am 100% bilingual and would have no problem fitting in the problem would be finding somewhere to work/live. Since I'm young I would like to find somewhere modern but not too expensive. Any ideas?

Without a college degree in Mexico, estas frito mano, because you will have to take the menial jobs in the society. I used to live in Mexico and have made many trips back there since I came back to the States. I have friends, Mexicans, who have moved here from there and they tell me that the peso is at ten to the dollar whereas last year it was at 3. You can live on 300 hundred American dollars as a single person, but the scene changes when you start working in that economy. You'll get minimum wage which normally equates to two or three dollars a day and will be barely enough to feed, clothe and house you even though you speak Spanish fluently. If you have any ESL training, English as a Second Language, you could teach English there and make a pretty good living. But, with only a high-school education, I recommend you stay home and get at least a two-year college degree before you cut and run for the border, unless you are one heck of a go-getter.

Good luck, whatever you do. I'm all for the move, but I think you'll need more than just your high-school diploma.

I agree with Quietwalker, get yourself an education, and there is no place like home. In Mexico like any other county, life without a good job is tough, You don't have much to offer. In the USA there are many opportunities to get ahead. If you are ready to live life like the unprivledge, you might just be ok, but you will have a hell of a time.

I would advice you to go there...and try to find a job and a place to live at first...then once you settle you can move...but thats up to you really..and believe me you gonna have to look for a long time.
