World wide.

global

first) notice the double all
in Genesis the phrase descibing it is
the waters coveres ALL the high mountians under ALL the heavens to like 9 cubits so if goliath is standin on the highest mountain on earth durin the flood he;s gunna be a goner

second) you dont need a boat if its regional
think about it
why do you need to build a boat for 100 years before the flood
you just go on a long trip if its regional and the animals just migrate

third) God promised never to flood the world the same way
we have seen many regional local floods. We have NOT seen another global flood

fourth) people all over the world have cultural memories of a flood
perhaps 150 or more cultures have a flood story showing it affected all people

so no,
it was global

I believe that it was regional by today's standards, but worldwide by the standards of the day.

You need to remember, that at the time of Noah, half of the Earth had yet to be "discovered" by the Eastern world, so "the world according to Noah" would only include the modern-day Middle East and surrounding areas. Plus, the civilizations that lived in this half of the world are not only as old as Biblical times, but they were decidedly NOT the children of Israel.

Also, the Bible has been translated and rewritten so many times that there is no way to know for sure that what we read today is the same as that which was written thousands of years ago.

Excuse me, I had to circulate to the bathing room until eventually i ended giggling. Come on atheists and Bible thumpers alike...you all made claims of this or that for the period of the previous and no person offered documentation on an identical time as railing on the different for no longer offering it. it could be a worldwide flood, despite if some mountain tops weren't lined, they don't have sustained all animal life. Or it would seem worldwide to the individuals of the time considering they have been in the worldwide slightly in the previous television and satellites. The Bible became into written 1000's of years later, so I doubt it became into basically danger that supported the tale. Scientists can not teach it did no longer take place anymore than Bible pupils can teach it did. 40 9 % of all information are made up instantaneous for the period of an arguement...i think of the comparable is going for those style of questions. ta-ta love you **JENN

It was worldwide.

Not to much is made available via the media about some things that have been found regarding this matter, but proof in todays world is still available.

THe authors name is Norm Sharbaugh .The book title is Ammunition. He had compiled some lessor known facts, one of which still has me baffled at how science has not factored this into their dating of the earth.

Chapter 7 concerns the flood and explains the fossilization of thousands of animals in one spot and in places that they would not have gotten to on their own. These places exist all over the world, not just in a regional spot.

I urge anyone to find and read this little book, it is all supported with facts from science and the bible, and really helps someone like me who has not studied the earths layers and fossils as much as I have studied the bible.

The book is published by
Norm Sharbaugh Ministries
PO Box 215
Brownsburg, Indiana 56112 revised 1997. Not sure if it is still in print or if you would have to find a copy on e bay.

If it was only regional how could it kill all of the animals on earth as the Bible states that it did? Certainly the animals would have spread out beyond this area by the time of the flood?

Gen 7:19 'The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered."

It's a symbolic story (lots of symbolism in there) that's been used in other religions, too. It's like the virgin birth -- the virgin birth is not meant to be taken literally but instead is a symbol for the awakening of consciousness to a reality that is not restricted to one's body, personality, etc. It's used in other religions, too. Note that the symbolic story of the flood could have been based on a real episode, of course -- in that case, the symbolic intent is still there and I would think that the real event was regional, like you say.

There was a local flood in the middle east just south of Baghdad at the time of Noah (or Anno) (Utnapishtim)

a farm sized group of animals was floated to safety in a trading barge.

The rest of the Noah whopper is made up like a fish story.. it gets bigger every telling

I'm with ya, I saw this thing on the history channel about what they think actually happened ( about what Noah probably looked like and the regional flood and everything ) and it was pretty cool to see it all pieced together like that.
