I'd take him to the vet for a check-up and to ensure there are no underlying health problems with him. However, his crying is probably just his way of asking you to play. As you said, he's playful and happy so he's probably got much energy to burn off and he wants you to join in with the fun. Give him some one-to-one attention for a time then ignore him so he learns you will play but not on his schedule.
He's just a baby so it might take him a bit of time to get used to his new home and living without all his brothers and sisters to play with.

You should take it to the vet. A stray kitten likely has parasites and really needs that first check up and shots. This visit can eliminate any thing physically wrong.
My cat, who was abandoned by someone on the side of the road as a little kitten, cries like that at times and always stops when I hold her. I got smart and got play toys to keep her interested so those crying episodes don't happen so often.
Remember, take the kitten in for the first vet visit. It can save heartache later if there is a problem that goes too long.
Good for you for rescuing the kitten.

Have you gone to a vet? It is always a good idea to see a vet when you get a new pet, especially if it is a stray. There may be problems you wouldn't notice. They can also tell you the gender.
Give the kitty a few days to settle in.
Try only paying attention to it if it is quiet. You reward loudness by talking to it, petting it, or otherwise paying it any attention when it is loud. It will learn quick to be quiet to be played with.

Usually it can take up to a month for a kitten to stop crying.
To be on the safe side, take it to a vet as it will need certain inoculations. And the vet can see if there is something that is causing it to cry.

It sounds like it is lonely, probably looking for it's family. I have a grown cat that often stands around and meows.
To be on the safe side, I would take the baby to the vet, make sure it is not in pain or anything.
Good luck!

Are you sure its "crying" and not just talkative? I've had lots of cats; some don't meow very much but others seem to have the need to communicate a lot. I've had two that seemed to be telling me about their day when I got home from work - or maybe they were lecturing me about leaving them alone!

1. go to a vet to get it checked out in case it is trying to tell you that he is sick.
2. Cats cry to try to communicate with us, this is a learned behavior. The more you speak around it, the more it will try to speak back to you.

Take it to a vet. It may have internal injuries from its life outside, might be continuously hungry, might be any number of things. It could have swallowed something outside that it now can't pass and might be causing him pain. Mine turned out to have an infection after I got her.

it might be missing where it came from...my 6 year old cat cries like he's lost sometimes....he never goes outside or anything but when it's dark he cries...so maybe your kitty needs to be comforted...if it's really young then he probably is just looking for someone to cuddle with. kittens cuddle with their brothers and sisters kind of like a security blanket....try letting it sleep with you.

You may want to take the little one to the vet: Strays often have parasites. Otherwise, he may just be trying to get used to your home.
