Your question assumes what is not necessarily a given fact. What makes you think he wasn't missing a rib? you assume that if Adam was missing a rib then all his descendants would be too. If you lost a toe in an accident, would all your descendants be missing a toe? And then you want to disregard the whole of God's word based on one misconception. Please keep asking questions though. Test everything and hold fast to that which is true. You don't need to believe in hell to end up there. And "if" it is true, then you need to understand the risk of spending eternity in a place of burning heat so intense you wish you could die. Where the smells are so noxious that you'll wonder why you haven't. Where the sights and sounds are so traumatic it'll make anything you ever went through in your life on earth seem like a trip to Disneyland. Where you will experience pain and weakness and loneliness and thirst that can never be quenched and it won't kill you because you are already dead. If is for a man to die only once. It is worth finding out. If you have access to the Internet why not use it to get the answer you are looking for. "23 minutes in hell" is one man's personal account. type it in, check it out. Check out Kent Hovind. Go look at the Creation Museum. There are a multitude of sources. Use them. God wishes that none of us should go to hell but the choice is ours alone.

If you read the account we are given in Genesis 2: 21, it says that a rib was removed. That's all the information we are given in this story. We have no follow-up on whether Adam spent his life minus one rib or whether one grew back on its own or whether God performed a miracle and restored the missing bone.

The bigger picture here is that this is an allegorical story --it is one in which we look for symbols and metaphors. Some have interpreted the story of woman coming from the rib of man and being symbolic of an intimate, interdependent connection between the two.

Another thing to look at is translation issues. Some believe the correct translation is not "rib" but side, adding weight to other stories that claim this operation was the separation of one creature of both genders into separate genders.

Thoracic (chest) surgeons routinely remove ribs, and these often grow back, in whole or in part. A lot depends on the care with which the rib is removed; it needs to be 'peeled' out of its periosteum to leave this membrane as intact as possible. A major reason why the rib is the ideal situation for such regeneration is that the attached intercostal muscles provide it with a good blood supply.

Adam did not walk around with a defect! In Genesis 2 v 21, referring to the creation of Eve, we read:

'And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept. And He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh underneath'.

God designed the rib, along with the periosteum. He would certainly have known how to remove the rib in such a way that it would later grow back, just as ribs still do today.

Well, the Bible tells the story twice. The first time, God created Adam and Eve at the same time. The second time, God created Adam, gave him some roles, and then created Eve from his rib. My personal opinion is that the first story is the original and that the second arose from one of the millions of times the Bible was revised (by men, of course) to make women out to be inferior. I guess it all depends on what you believe.

The only honest answer to that question that I could possibly give you is that Adam is not missing a rib because the Bible is indeed not true and it is all just a clever ruse that falls apart at the slightest pressure from people that are not willing to devote their lives to believing in something blindly, i.e. Blind Faith...

the Bible says that when God took a rib from Adam, he filled in its place, flesh. And besides, no one did an autopsy on Adam to see if he was missing a rib.

because God did not take an actual rib out of his body.

perhaps God did a scraping of the bone and used the DNA?

besides, if God had taken a rib originally, and created a whole woman out of it, why not go the extra step and make anothe rib to put back in adam, before he closed him up.
