Mouse or gel with a stronger hold but it really depends on the end results she wants in a style. hair spray is just a finish but a stronger heavier product in styling can do the same thing. They also make a face shield or simply put a towel over face when spraying.

Redken has some really good wax that holds pretty well. They also make your hair shiny and smooth. She should go to a hair salon and ask them the same question. I am sure they have a lot of products for her to try on there.

Try gel, mousse or sculpting wax. She should also take the thickness of her hair into consideration. If she has thick hair, gel is great. Thinner hair is great with mousse or wax. I used wax on my hair when I had it short (I have very fine hair) and it worked great.

Has she tried gel and pommade? She might have to use them both--one before drying, one after.
