Just FYI to my audience on this question, an airburst fusion nuke will not create fallout or massive damage to the enviornment. The reference to the Russian nuke plant that failed, was a carbon based fission system, old and dangerous.

Blindness will not occur on a detonation more than 15 miles from ground zero, and even then it is a temporary event, similar to a welder's torch.

Finally, I can address this information to my training as a tactical weapons officer in the Army, during my advanced officers course, @ Ft. Lee, VA.

I completely agree with your proposal. We should start with the criminal terrorist organizations currently occupying the White House and Federal Congressional Offices in Washington D.C., USA.

Nuclear bombs should be detonated 60 miles out of town, at about 10,000 to 20,000 feet so there would be no fallout. The citizens of this capital would feel this power without death or destruction. They would then be
advised that they must produce the leadership of
their nation to the world court system, as well as
any
terrorist groups, for justice.

Failure to comply would result in another detonation
the following day, only 20 miles closer to the
capitol.
This would repeat, if there is no compliance, until
the capitol is ground zero.
I am not an extremist but I am convinced that the
leadership of certain countries only respond to
power.
I don't want to see the innocents suffer. After
seeing
this demonstration, I believe the people of these nations would respond.

Actually, watching a Nuclear Detonation would blind the populace!! Plus the radiation, would have a huge impact, and fall out would be everywhere, even detonated at that distance up in the air...(ever hear of chernobyl? "spelling is probably wrong, but its a nuclear plant in Russia that spread radiation through out a lot of Countries that people got sick and died from).

No, you would be poisoning the atmosphere and groundwaters and the earth, with a nuclear deotonation in the air. Plus, all the power would be disrupted by the EMP, (electro motive pulse, i believe its called), it would destroy power stations and disrupt communications and all that sort of things...

So, there is "never" a safe detonation, unless its way below ground...and who knows what really goes on even with that! You may have contaminated ground water! You may have faults that are cracking and breaking because of the detonations! Everything is an unkown with this much power.

I wish you well..

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The only purpose of such a demonstration would be to say to these countries that "you are to become vassal states of the United States without sovereignty."

The US would be giving up any pretense of being a moral country. Only a powerful one.

Aside from the fact that there would be radiation and fallout - most of the word doesn't have a "60 miles out of town", population density in much of the world precludes that. And what you further propose - moving slowly to a ground zero filled with innocent people - frankly, such a proposal is monstrous and inhuman.

Guess who wins a nuclear war?

No one - everyone dies in a nuclear war.

Using nuclear weapons begets the use of nuclear weapons. You might think such simplistic "shock and awe" tactics are neat now, but your opinion might change when your city gets vaporized in a mushroom cloud.

Aside from the environmental problems arising from this sort of experiment. I do not think it is a good idea.

It might change the mind of a nation or two, but not many.

Weapons shouldn't exist. The Nuclear bomb, weapon was a mistake. God created humans but humans destroy humans.
