what I meant to type in there was, are they SAD because they don't get to do that? I think I would be, in their shoes.

Thanks!

Well I get what your saying but think of what they do get to do that other dogs don't like run and attack criminals and ger rewarded for it, plus they get treated better than most dogs, so I think they have it pretty good, window or not!!

I know what you mean . We pulled up next to a K-9 unit at a stop light and my dog had her head out her window and the police dog looked at her so sad! Like how come you get to have all the fun?

Getting dog drool off the windows is a pain!

I would hope that their partners would let them hang out the/a window once in awhile. I have seen human officers whos patrol cars have screens (bars) in the windows in the back so while the K-9 officer is not able to hang out the window they do get to smell and feel the wind that is coming through the open window. I hope that all police who have K-9 partners would once in awhile do this and then drive past alot of fast food place so the K-9 officer can enjoy the smells.

Police dogs are not mean, they are trained to be aggressive on command. A mean dog is always mean.

Speaking of mean, it is mean to allow a dog to stick their head out of the window when the car is moving (without some sort of eye protection). Dust, debris and insects can blow into their eyes and cause damage that can affect their vision.

My dog would trade chasing and catching the bad guy over sticking his head out the window any day...

It's dangerous to let them stick their heads out the window for a couple reasons...first, they could get dirt and debris in their eyes, causing major problems, and second, you don't want some idiot coming over to your car when you're stopped somewhere to "pet the pretty puppy".

Sorry Smiling Sam, you have it all wrong again, it is the policeman who wears shoes, not the dog, besides you would never get your feet into dogs shoes. Most of the police dogs I have known, and I have known many, were the most wonderful dogs until the two-tone horns or blue lights were switched on, then they became what they were trained to be, hard working animals................
