Because they love to see the expression on your face when they let one fly right over your shiny car. I imagine that it's much like people tapping on the glass of a fish tank - we just can't help it. Sure it annoys the fish....

Well I guess Karen was right... It is only " Every time YOU are near." because that has never happened to me. #1. I never park under power lines or trees and #2. If I were a bird... I'd aim for big shiny things too.
