Yeah, you're right. Basically you are tightening the skin around the stomach. Let's just say you will have one nice rock-hard keg if that's all that is done. To lose it is a complete workout of every area of the body, three small calorie meals a day, and drink plenty of water. I started losing weight by working, keeping my diet under 2000 calories, and just drinking lots of water

Sit-ups actually do not remove belly fat. Sit-ups do more to build muscle than help you lose fat. If you want to lose fat, it takes cardiovascular exercise, like walking or running. Sit-ups help your stomach look better, though. And the more muscle you have on your body the more fat you naturally burn. And if you want to be able to do sit-ups, just do as many as you can or sit up as far as you can. They're like push-ups--just do what you can every day, and in a few weeks you'll be able to do a lot. They come back to you really quick.

Doing abdominal work and nothing else won't make your stomach bigger. Example, if you do 200 crunches a day, you will be creating toned muscles underneath all of your fat. And since muscle burns more calories than fat, you may get a little smaller. But I definately recommend eating right, doing more resistance training, and some type of fat burning cardio work.

Get on a diet
Have a cardio based routine
Jog will help you too
Do some abdominal work: the hard ones should help you
Stand if you are going to sit
Compress your a.s.s
Release a fart every now and then
You can only complain to the guy inside the mirror
And if this doesn't give you results
Eat more junk food as u have done until today

Exercise does not determine from where fat leaves the body - that is based on heredity.
Some people loose weight first in their stomaches, others in their face, boobs, butt or hips.
Exercising that area will strengthen the muscles in that area. The fat there will not be affected by the strengthening of said muscles though. It will leave the body based on how you body chemistry is set (whether your an apple or a pear).

Homeopathic Treatment for Excessive Fat and Weight :-
PHYTOLACCA BERRY's Mother Tincture is perhaps the safest and sure fire way of loosing excessive fat around abdomen. With Phytolacca Berry once you loose the excessive fat and weight you don't get it back because you body takes care of itself after that and keeps you from gathering up excessive fat. It is prescribed after having a baby too, to get the tummy to loose its flab and to make it flatter and tighter. And after loosing weight with this you don't get flabby it tightens up the flab and skin along with helping your body to shed the excessive accumulation of fat around the girth
The dosage is 15 to 20 drops of the tincture in half a cup of hot water thrice a day half hour before or after meals.
Avoid Chocolates, Coffee, Mints, Red Meat and Carbonated and Alcoholic drinks while taking Homeopathic Medicines. You have to take it for at least 30 to 45 days after that you start to feel the results.
To the best of my knowledge its the safest and the most sure fire way of loosing fat and weight and keeping it of for keeps. Excellent remedy for Obese people who cant seem to shed weight despite trying.
Homeopathic Remedies can be found at all Major Herbal Stores or could be bought on line, In most of the world Homeopathic remedies are quite cheap and easy to find and they do not need a prescription.
Take care and God Bless !

i do 200 crunches every day. Every week my husband tells me how much better my stomach looks, and my friends too. I notice a huge difference, and not only is the fat going, the oblique muscles are starting to be defined! I swear by crunches. Sit-ups, however, I'm not fond of.

Yes. We all know that cardio is key to weightloss, but you are also misinformed. Muscle eats fat. When you do sit ups or crunches (depending on your gender) you are building muscle and therefor eating fat.
