yes dogs can be extremely possessive and territorial.
take her to obedience school and both fence and post
your property because small children do not understand
and you are liable if one is injured. protect yourself and
everyone else from possible trouble.

Unfortunatly, many dogs dont know how to deal with kids because kids are face-to-face with them, and are generally wild in nature...waving their hands, moving quickly, etc. the thing with the other dogs is probably just territorial.
My dog will not stay in the same room with my son if the kid is on the floor, which really bums my kid out (he's under a year, but wants to play anyway). My dog likes most other dogs when we're not at home, but will challenge any animal that approaches the fence at home.

Ouch, yeah it can be. Mine is too. However, keeping her on a leash and putting a muzzle on her around small children helps out in that area. Other dogs however, she is still very territorial. We are still working on that one. The leash helps but she still growls and barks. That is the only time that she does. She will bite strangers without barking, sneaks up on them and is a great watch dog that way, but around other dogs, she is not nice at all.

It depends on the breed of dog. Some are not aggressive. Make sure that you post your property to beware of dog and keep it on a leash.

Any aggressive dog is a menace and should be uthanized. It isn't worth a child being harmed permanently. My Vet told us this and we had our poodle put down. It's not worth it and you can be sued too.Be responsible and do not take chances.

What kind of dog? Many dogs are this way because they are possessive of you or of their territory. Keep her away from kids, because there is no way to be sure she will not harm them.
