The Crystal Cathedral belongs to the Reformed church in America. It's led by Rev. Robert Schuller and his son. I used to watch him on TV before I became Catholic.

No, it's the church inspired and built by Dr. Robert Schuller and his congregation, based in Garden Grove, California. Dr. Schuller has been a protestant minister whose message, through many televised sermons, speeches and books, has inspired millions of people to live happy, fulfilled lives. Here is his self portrait:

"My denomination shunned me when they heard I was preaching in a drive-in theater."

The young minister had always been proud to belong to the oldest Protestant denomination in the country, the Dutch Reformed Church in America. Many of his colleagues and co-religionists thought the setting of a drive-in movie theater was beneath the dignity of a minister of the church, but Robert Schuller was determined to reach the people of Southern California, and the drive-in ministry grew and grew.

Today, Robert Schuller broadcasts his message from the spectacular Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California, to an estimated audience of 30 million people, in 184 countries on all seven continents. His program, The Hour of Power, is the most widely televised one-hour church service in the world.

Dr. Schuller has represented the United States as a member of the Presidential Delegation at the funerals of Mother Teresa and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. His goal-setting ideas have made him a sought-after speaker for business conventions and conferences around the world, and his "theology of self-esteem" is a source of strength and hope to millions.

Technically the answer is both yes and no.

Yes, as all Christian Churches are Catholic in that Catholic means universal and comprises all Traditions and denominations. And no, while it is a Christian Church it is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic or other Catholic Traditions directly. What we all share is Christ and what we share is greater than that which may separate us.

Peace be with you.

Attention first two posters... the Catholic church IS a christian church. So the answer is that it is not a Catholic church but a Protestant one.

It's yet another offshoot of the protestant branch of christianity though i can't remember which one, there are so many!!!!!

A lot of "Xians" really don't like Robert Schuller and his message, which they think is humanist and non-biblical...for shame!
