Jesus being the son of God knew what was in these men's hearts and told them as much by letting them know they were indeed hypocrites....that while these Pharisees showed themselves as righteous and tithed .....it wasnt for the right reasons.......it was to show off and look good to the people.....therefore they cared more about what people thought of them than what they did about what God himself thought about them.

Thats why Jesus called them hypocrits because they taught the people one thing while they did exactly the opposite .....they should of praticed what they preached but alot of them didnt....and that was what Jesus was talking about.

The scribes and Pharisees were so bent on the spirit of the law, that they didn't understand that ultimately the law was given out of love. They were so bent on being right and that's all that mattered to them - that love was absent.

The Sadducees were a secular group that basically didn't believe in life after death, etc.

While both groups seemed like polar opposites - neither saw a loving God, neither group turned people to a loving God.

Perhaps this is why Jesus had trouble with both groups

This is also true in our day except that they are no longer called Pharisees and Sadducees. A lot of people read the scriptures but they do not understand, this is a gift.

What an incredible reference you have recent in Matthew. The pharisees have been the church leaders of the day. on an identical time as, they taught the individuals approximately God, they did no longer persist with their very very own teachings. So, they have been referred to as hypocrites via fact they themselves did no longer persist with what they taught. additionally, there is the tale of while Jesus overturned the tables in the temple court docket backyard. That became into via fact in the temple they have been actually merchandising salvation. it relatively is likewise no longer what they taught. And back, the pharisees might carry forth out loud and use long kiss up words of their prayers. yet, prayer is a private factor between human beings and God. So, they back did no longer prepare what they preached. Then there is the kicker. Jesus became into the fulfilment of what that they were preaching yet they did no longer be conscious the signs and indications (the fulfilment of the messianic prophesies). The pharisees did no longer long after Gods coronary heart nor did they persist with it. They used their place as considered one of potential and impression. they did no longer persist with their very very own teachings. And for this reason, they have been referred to as hypocrates.

They werent the religious leaders of the time they were basicly people who knew all about the scripturs and rules of the bible. The thing though is that they where taking the scriptures for verbatum. When the apostles were hungrey on sunday and picked the heads of some wheat they got real pissed (do nothing on the sabbath). Eaven when Jesus healed a man on the sabbath they got so pissed that they talked to the high priest (he was the religious leader) and convinced him to have piolet execute him. We have a more modern name for them now days ...religious extreemists. think Talaban of there time.

That was the trouble. The pharisees wanted things done their way and not God's. That is why they had Jesus crucified and why the Jews today have never recognized Jesus as the Messiah. And the Saducees were like todays false religions and cults. The did not nor would not accept the truth.

So far as I'm concerned, I don't care what he called the Pharisees, or what they called him. I'm quite sure the bad language went both ways. Remember that Jesus was a real hot-head. He kicked over the tables of the money changers because they were overcharging the people.

They were into law and petty. Obviously they were missing the point. The religious leaders were the ones calling for the death of Jesus. Not all religious leaders can be trusted.

Faith doesn't need a special place to appear and God doesn't need an intermediary to talk to us.
Also, the scriptures say we shouldn't worship images and priests are supposed to be poor and humble.
So, like Jesus I'm entitled to disagree that priests (and others as such) are leaders of our time or even know the scriptures.

I think I must have missed the first part of your question but I feel fine about what Jesus said.

He was talking metaphorically about ALL of us...it's not as if everybody in Judea (Jew, Roman, and Gentile) were as pure as the as the driven snow except for the Pharisees.
