um, the oil is what makes them unhealthy. spices and salt are okay for you. poatatos are very starchy. oil is fatty. there isn't a lot of anything in spices and salt.

Anytime you grow and cook your own food it is healthier for you. You don't have all the contamination and preservatives that comes with restaurant and prepared foods, but, unfortunately there is no way to make deep frying good for you.
Wiping off the grease only helps a little.
Try putting the sliced potatoes in a Zip lock bag with a Tablespoon of olive oil, shake to coat. Then bake them at in the oven until they are golden brown. Olive oil has proven health benefits and baking reduces the amount of oil you need.
You can put all the spices and herbs you want on them. They also have health benefits. Try Rosemary or Garlic. Yum!!
Salt is something to stay away from if you have heart problems. It also can cause you to retain water (gain weight), so if you are trying to lose weight, go easy.
Potatoes themselves have lots of vitamins and minerals that are good for you.
Hope this helps, Enjoy.

Really depends on the type of oil and how clean the oil is as well as the temperature of the oil.

Use canola oil
Make sure and change often or filter it
Temperature should be above 380 degrees so that no excess absorption occurs

Still many fat grams, but this will help reduce

That depends on the oil you use. Butter is high in saturated fats. Margarine is high in hydrogenated fats. Most oils are 120 calories per tablespoon. Each oil has a different amount of saturated and unsaturated fats, animal fat - cholesterol, and trans fats.

Some restaurants are being more careful with the type of oil they use to fry french fries.

However, anything in moderation.

No. Fryers in restraunts often leave less oil on the FF, as opposed to doing it at home. Try baking them, with no oil, but eat them while still warm or they will dry out.

No, because you are still cooking potatoes (carbs) in oil or grease (fat).

You can have them and still watch your weight, just not on a regular basis.

its not really healthy to eat fried anything but yes, if you make them yourself you ll be much better off than eating restaurant fries. you can also make your own and bake them ( which is much better than frying) but the occasional fried food wont hurt ... its all about moderation = )
