Apart from flash games, most game downloads have to be "installed" to be played. There are plenty of web sites where you can play games online, single player and multi player.

If you like jigsaws, then this is a good site, single file, no need to install. Scroll down the page to see todays and yesterdays jigsaws, also has archive section http://www.jigsawaday.com/

Go to www.orisinal.com, they are challenging and quite addictive! No need to install either, all flash-based games.
