If you mean the serch area box:
click on the blank area (it will show you a drop-down menu) and go to the searched text (don't click, point the mouse pointer on the text) and keep pressing delete key after pointing it to the text to delete each and every one.
If you mean the URl address area:
Tool>Internet Options>Clear History
Also delete files (also check mark in the dialog box) and delete cookies...

Oh are you talking about the automatic form fill thing? That's a separate option and it sounds like yours is on. How to turn it off depends on what browser you use. In Firefox, for example, under Tools (top bar) select Options. In Options, select Privacy. In Privacy, select the Saved Forms tab. There is a box you can check to save (or uncheck to not save) information you type into forms like a search field. Uncheck it and click "clear saved form data now". This should take care of it.
In other browsers, other ways to do this. Just look for "Saved Forms" or auto form or something like that.

u can't, i have tried to do it before. u mean the address box right? cuz u can't, u can erase the history by hitting crtl and H but it wouldn't erase it from the top box where u put web site addresses.

Right click on your browser icon on your desktop and select Properties. You will see an option where you can delete Temporary Internet Files. You can also delete cookies from here
