You did the right thing. And I am not sure, but I think that after a certain amount of time, if nobody claims it, you get to keep the money. You might want to check at the police station.

You did the right thing. If the police did the right thing they wrote up a found property report, logged the money into their evidence vault, and listed you as the finder. If no one claims the money, you should receive it. Most police departments have a 90 day waiting period. Check and see how long your police department makes you wait.
