It doesn't matter why they want to be prayed for, it is always good to pray for the well being of others...but do not pray for anything this individual might want that is negative/evil.
So, yes, pray for their well being.

I would politely tell them that they are in my thoughts.
If this seemed to hurt their feelings, I would lie and say that, yes, I would pray for them.
I don't believe in prayer.

i would it only takes less them 10 seconds to think "god please watch and protect this person" thats a prayer. if a catholic asks you to pray for him he might mean prey, cause they want to control the world.
