Jesus fulfilled the Sabbaths (Holy Days). The Seventh day God rested. God & man had a connection (Man rested in Christ). At the fall of man, so sin separates man from God. God says to rest on the Sabbath day, remembering the Creator.

There is the Jewish Pentecost. A 7 week Sabbath. Pentecost being 50th day. The Holy Spirit was sent on Pentecost after Jesus atonement (I think the Christian Pentecost is 3 days later than the Jewish Pentecost). There is a Jewish land rest that is every 7 years. There is a 7 X 7 = 49 +1 = 50th year = jubilee. Year of forgiveness of debts, etc... The passover has a 7 day feast. Jesus gave His life at that time, & rose from the dead. I am still searching facts about Jewish Holidays. I have just ordered the new Jewish calendar through elijahlist.org.

My non denominational bible faith pastor has preached on this. 7 is the number of rest in Christ. It is also the number of blessing, victory, healing, completness, etc. Read Hebrews 3:11, 4:1-11. Also Colossians 2:16 -- Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or drink, or of the sabbaths. They are a shadow of things to come; but the body of Christ.... God's rest is in Christ. Read Colossians 2. To get more information on church web site: www.riveroflifefellowship.org.

Abiding in God's Love & Word is abiding in Christ is resting in Christ.

The 7th day adventists are messed up in that they say one is bowing to the beast of the Catholic church if they worship God on Sunday. I can worship God any day where christian people are assembling together in obedience to God. I usually go on Sunday & I am worshipping God & the beast is under my feet. I go other week days where people are gathering together. But I need to abide in Christ 24/7. Notice the 7 in that.

Of course every Saturday is the 7th day of the week. Yet once a week is every 7th day. The Lord rose from the dead or the day of pentecost happened at the beginning of the week so some think Sunday represents the resurrection and pentecost. Every calendar numbers the 7th day is once a month. Yet in the Jewish calendar you have calculation of 7s of Holy Days too. They have two new years also associated to Holy Days. And it is a solar calendar (eve, morn = 1st day). While ours is the sun calendar.

It is all somewhat complicated, so I just rest in Christ 24/7 & trust & obey as He directs me.

When the resting day comes after six days of work and not before. Only then is the Word understood.

FAQ: What books are in the Word and what are apocrypha?

"The books of the Word are all those which have the internal sense; but those books which have not the internal sense, are not the Word. The books of the Word, in the Old Testament, are the five Books of Moses, the Book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, the two Books of Samuel, the two Books of Kings, the Psalms of David, the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi: and in the New Testament, the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John; and the Apocalypse. The rest have not the internal sense" (Arcana Coelestia n. 10325 or Heavenly Doctrine n. 266).

FAQ: Why different testaments and books in the Word?

"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

It is easy to "reason" which day, 7th Sabbath or 1st day Sunday, should be observed.. But human reasoning is nothing more than man's opinions! Anyone who really wants to know the truth should read the Bible for their answers instead of asking people. The Bible affirms the Commands are valid for as long as this world remains. 4th Commandment: Remember to keep Sabbath holy. Jesus is "Lord of the Sabbath." It is the "Sabbath to the LORD," not the Jewish sabbath, just b/c the Jews observed it! Apostles, including Paul, observed Sabbath in synagogue with Jews and Gentiles both. Christians (both Jews and Gentiles) continued observing Sabbath. It was the Roman Emperor who originally instituted Sunday to unite the empire of Christians and pagans (political) b/c majority of empire were pagan sun worshippers, but later the Roman Catholic Church made it a Papal decree to worship on Sunday, and killed Sabbath keepers as heretics. Despite that, there continued to be Sabbath keepers all down through history, as there are increasingly more and more today. I hope this helps. God bless.

Using the term Sabbath originated with the Jews. Saturday is their Sabbath and it was also with Christians initially because the first Christians obviously were Jewish. Saturday was the original resting day, but is now Sunday. I say rest on whatever day is your 7th day. Peoples work schedules aren't confined to Monday through Friday any longer.

Read the bible!! If the denomination is going by that and that alone, I would join up but if not, go to the next one. The first day is not there but only the Seventh. I have offered for many years now, $10,000 to the first that could show me from the bible that it was changed to Sunday, the first day and to this date, none has claimed it. Funny how the only commandment that was nailed to the cross was the one that said REMEMBER as its first word. The other nine you get no resistance but the one that says to REMEMBER is the one you get the arguement on when it is the Catholic church that changed it and most of the churches follow it on that, yet call themselves protestants.

I will probably get a lot of resentment to this, but I think all Faiths that teach the Blood and the Book are good. I myself am Southern Baptist, because after I was saved, but not yet baptized, I prayed about it and God or the Spirit told me to go to church as a Southern Baptist, which I am today, having been baptized and joined the church. I go three times a week, if at all possible.

Ask any Christan 'what day was Jesus crucified' and they will always say "good Friday".The women and Joseph could not anoint the body as it was the sabbath.
Therefore the day after Friday is the eternal sabbath.P.S. the sabbath is from sun down fri to sun down sat.

I don't think it matters which day you observe the Sabbath as long as you do it. The days of the week aren't necessarily observed the same as they were in the beginning anyway. All that matters is that you honor the day that your church observes as the Sabbath.

Easy, I just check with what the Bible has to say.

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Colossians 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. 16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

The Sabbath law was a ceremonial law pointing to the rest we could experience in Christ. That law has been fulfilled just like the sacrifical laws that we are no longer required to keep. So I don't have to worry about observing a "special day" in order to be keeping God's commands although I am free to do so and I'm not to judge others who want to observe the Sabbath.

Romans 14:4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.
