According to the bible, the end of days would not be a peaceful time on the earth. There would be many more wars then there ever were in the past (which is happening right now, or has happened). An explosion of knowledge will happen almost before the end of days. (IMO, the explosion of knowledge is now, considering all the inventions and things of the 20th century.) All this has lead many fundamentalist christians to think the end of days is almost upon us. what do you think? please state your opinion. and please no smart-*** answers.

I think it is very possible as for knowing it as fact well no can't help you there. I see a lot of bad things happening and I see the world heating up with war and hate and the threat none like I have ever seen before.

I think you could argue that the end of days was about to happen during any time in history, almost. That said, I also think more things that are listed in Scripture are happening in our times than have ever happened in the past. I think people have always thought the end of days was coming very soon because they look forward to the Second Coming. Nostradamus predicted a lot of the stuff that has happened in the past ten years, but did not predict that the end of days would happen for several thousand more years. Obviously, he wasn't God, though. I just try very hard to live every day like it's my last (forgetting very often) and try not to worry about it. Very interesting discussion.

people have been predicting the end time was coming soon for hundreds of years. I wouldn't pick a date but personally think this time it is approaching rapidly. The formation of the EU along with our current wars and shifting alliances seem to reflect events foretold in the Revelation. Everything seems to be falling in place with various new alliances among nations, the current wars, and things like proposals of chip implantation for identification which many believe is what is referenced by the "mark of the beast" without which no man could buy or sell.
I am carefully watching how the current war in which Israel finds itself plays out and waiting for the one who will come on the scene who is able to institute a truce between Israel and her enemies. This charismatic leader will have the overwhelming support of the people of the world and will have the ability to unite them for a time. This will come upon us suddenly and at a time of major crisis. When we see this the time is near.

Well, Newton, the scientist, by devoting most of his life by studying the bible, thought that the end of the world would be in 2060. Also, it says in the bible that first the anti-christ will come and trick people throwing the whole world into a burning chaos. If you believe in the anti-christ then when God comes to earth and fights the anti-christ you will go to hell. I actually don't believe in this though because I am no fundamentalist.

Every generation since Christ has believed that they were living in the end of times. I do have to admit thought, everything that is happening now is pretty suspect. Until the Rapture, the world is safe to an extent though. Ultimately, it is up to God, so don't worry too much. It will happen when it will happen.

No. I think we are going through one of those tribulations in history. The end times are two centuries or more away from today. However, I think there will be a chastisement or punishment from God and then a period of peace.

that is because they don't somewhat study the Bible. because it says "no human being will recognize they day or the hour no guy nor the angels in Heaven or maybe the Son yet purely the daddy is conscious the the hour in which he will go back." So i do not realize why people keep wondering they "recognize" the precise day even as God will come. also, God does not p.c.. an afternoon it somewhat is significant to people, besides.

I think that there is an existing heavyness...a feeling in all Christians that Christ's return is very soon....no one knows of course...not even the angels in heaven know the hour but that does not mean God cannot warn us in our hearts to prepare and be ready...something is stirring in this world...i can feel feel it...but I do not make a big deal out of it and I do not worry...the middle east is in more chaos and confusion than it has been in hundreds of years... it is a sign in the bible especially that it is centered around Isreal... who knows what will happen in my life time history is happening all around us and I feel like we have come to a head in technology and economy....All I know is that Jesus is always calling his people home please go with him and follow in your life so that we can see you in heaven.. God be with you!

who knows. this world has not been peaceful since cain picked up a rock.

or, since the caveman picked up a rock, depending on your belief.

the end of times has been preached so often, that people soon disregard it as fable.

however, lets do a take on the "thief in the night" bit. the woman who's life was lost when the chunk of concrete and steel fell on her was certainly tragic.

more tragic is that she may not have been right with God.
