Would Dan Brown have made so much money if the Catholic church had not made such a big deal about the DaVinci code?

D*....you made my point the church gave him too much FREE publicity.
**I car pool and had the book in my car to read while waiting on the kids. Not to point fingers but the Catholic kid would not get in my car until I moved it. She acted like it would burn her or something.

Nothing will improve the sales of a book so much as telling people they shouldn't read it.

Yes. The Catholic Church simply restated its teachings after the onslaught caused by popular media claiming that Brown's work of fiction was a "revelation."
The Church is, and always will be a target for conspiracy buffs...but most Catholics have a good sense of humor and are able take it in stride.
I'm waiting for somebody to tie the Willy Wonka work of fiction into some sort of conspiracy theory. No doubt, millions will believe it!
(The Church never tells its members what to read or what not to read...including the Dale Brown novel...that idea is just another conspiracy theory in itself.My Priest told the Parish to read it and decide for ourselves. I did...it's a good thriller...loses steam toward the end...and is an excellent example of revisionist history. It didn't cause me to question my faith one bit.)

Definitely Not!!! It's a god damn book. I'm a catholic and I got over it!!! In fact I went to see the film and liked it!
It's a fictional book based AROUND factual information.
The church gave him way too much free publicity!

not just the Catholic church that did it but others too. Those that believe it is nothing but fiction are the biggest donors of the lies.
