When Nebuchanednezzar had his dream about the large gold, silver, bronze and (iron and clay) statue. Daniel interprets this dream meaning:
Gold=Babylonian Empire
Silver= Medo-Persian Empire
Bronze=Greek Empire
Iron=Roman Empire

So if Daniel correctly foretold these empires. Why wasn't a huge empire like the British Empire included in this dream. The British Empire was bigger than the Roman Empire.

Those were the Empires that held the Isrealites in captivity before Jesus came.

It was mentioned. Many just don't get it.
After daniel mentioned a beast like the winged leopard ( Dan 7:6), he mentioned a fearsome terrible, unusually strong beast. Out of the horns of this beast a small one came out. He defeated the 3 other horns and spoke of grandiose things. ( Dan 7:7-10) That small horn represented Great Britain. He conquered other 3 powerful kings, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. That's history written in advance for us !!!

Oh, after the iron legs in Danie'l dream ( represented by the Roman empire) came the feet-- a mixture of clay and iron. History tells us that Great B, and the USA is actually a conglomeration of weaker peoples who banded themselves together and became powerful empire up to this day.

This empire, is also the King of the South. It is still waiting for the king of the North to appear and do battle with it.

Figure this prophecy carefully, for the fate of many hangs on this.

Actually it is there. If you look at the rest of it you find that in the end time, the feet and toes, it is made of iron and clay. Now if you look in the later chapters of the book like in chapter 8 for example, it says there were to be ten kingdoms and the little horn would pluck up three of those horns. Look at the history books and you will find that one of those ten kingdoms was the british empire. Anglo Saxon-English or British, Visigoths-Spain, Suevi-Portugal, Lombards-Italy, Franks-France, Bergundions-Switzerland, Alimani-Germany, and the ones that were uprooted and done away with are the Vandals, where we get the word vandalism or destroying of property as they destroyed a lot of property, the Hurlie, and the Ostrogoths. True the British Empire was very large but it still had Rome as it's head or strength as it got its powers direct from Rome as in the iron but it would not mix with the clay, the actual kingdoms but would have power in them as the iron was in the clay but not mixing with it.

This is a classic post-hoc interpretation. The writers of the Book of Daniel were only aware of those empires, so thats what they put in the dream when they made it up. Daniel is a fictional character much like Hercules in Greek mythology. His stories are allegorical and reflect the politics of the time they were written, likely a few 100 years after "the event".
