This will be my opening statement for an essay....which one sounds better and do u think it's good enough?

Neither. The Victorian Era was a time period, so to say that the era brought a time period is redundant.

Try something like:

The Victorian Era was a time period of unprecedented industrialization and development. Unfortunately, with this growth the gaps in society between social classes also grew.

I like the second one. I think it's worded very clearly and helps the essay sound professional and interestingly informative.
