My brother left the lawnmower outside and it rained. My dad yelled at me for 10 minutes about how badly I had screwed up. No matter what happens around here, I am the one who suffers the consequences. What can I do?

Stop allowing yourself to be the victim. Take charge of your life! Have a peaceful talk with your parents and let them know your feelings. They may not really notice that they are doing it. If you messed up in the past tell them that you have changed. You would appreciate them looking into situations before blaming and yelling at the wrong kid. By the way, yelling and blaming only teaches the kids to do the same thing. Talking it out is much better and builds bonds instead of having the kids scared to tell their parents something. Kids need to have an open door policy with the parents and the parents need to always listen, understand and help- not blame or judge. Kids ability to resolve problems gets better with age and experience so they need to be able to discuss things with their parents. If not the parents the kids will find someone and that someone may be the local child molester in disguise! Respect gets respect! Best wishes and I appreciate your knowing that your treatment is wrong and that you are strong enough to ask for help!

I know the feeling, I am the computer guru in my house and I keep all our computers running. Whenever a computer doesnt work right, guess who's name is shouted? Mine.

I am not sure how you fix this, but after a while of things happening that werent your fault, maybe you wont be the first blamed.

honestly, the same thing happens to me. there are a couple of things you can do, depending on how bad the situation is. you can hide in your room, accept the blame for everything, or you can stand up to them and tell them that you are not the only one here. it kind of depends on what number of kid you are in the family (oldest, middle...)
