Bob Thurman, who tests and designs golf balls for Wilson Sports says a golf ball usually has anywhere from 330 to 500 dimples - depending on which company designs the ball. The dimples help the ball travel further and higher.

Depends on who makes it. There are many patents on the numer and geometric arrangement of the dimples on a golf ball.

There are dimples, like mini-craters, and that's probably what your talking about.
I've no idea. Probably a little over a hundred.

There is no regulation. Usually, 300 to 450.
On the USGA web site, you can find a list of all the balls that conform to their standards with a dimple count for each one.
