I don't care about abs, muscles, dieting-- any of that. I just need to lose weight. Which activity will help me lose weight the fastest?
Thanks!

I'm going to go with swimming, as it encourporates all of the muscles at one time, instead of the other three which will mainly help your leg muscles.

To lose weight you need to do what is called a cardiorespitory workout. That is a workout that works both Heart(cardio) and lungs(respitory). Jogging, walking, bicycling and swimming are all cardiorespitory workouts. Now take in account your age, weight, level of fitness, they are all important. If you are really overwieght you would not want to start running because it is a high impact activity for your knees and with the excess weight would do more harm then good in the long run. Walking, biking and swimming are all low impact cardiorespitory workouts. Now swimming is said to be the best, but just because you jump in a pool do 3 laps you arent done. You have to ensure you get your heart rate up for an extended amount of time(at least 30 minutes). So walking and bicycling are the best because you can do that activity for a long time. I notice when I swim I do about 3 or 4 laps and start to get tired then look at the clock and I have only been working out for 5 minutes. For me it is a psycological barrier. The best way to keep it all fresh and fun is to do them all. One day you go for a walk, after work you go to the gym for a swim and do some weights as someone metioned, on the weekend wake up early go for a run, and on a sunday morning take a 10 to 15 mile bike ride.
I have been in the Army for 7 years(i was wounded in Iraq which is why I am retired now), so my experience is not just a guess, but it still is only my opinion, hope it helps. Good Luck

Whatever you do do not try throwing up or anything. This will send you into shock and make you retain all the fat from anything you eat. I lost 40 pounds in a month in a very normal non life threatening way 1: Cut out red meat (pork, beef, game animals) 2: Use small plates to eat food on, limiting yourself to only eating what is on the plate and no seconds. 3: NO POP (yes this is a big deal), try water, light juices (apple or orange, Not grape) or try flavored water. 4: Drink a normal sized (8oz) glass of water (flavored is ok) before every meal. 5: 3 Meals a day, one snack between meals ( fruit, veggies, healthy kid snacks like gummies etc.) 6: Be continuously active for at least 30 minutes a day (walk, jog, stretch, clean house) 7: No cheating on eating healthy (as bad as you want it, it isn't worth it, trust me) 8: feel confident and only check the scale once a week 9: tell others about this plan and that you are going to do it, so you will feel more pressure to succeed and not quit. 10: be happy! think to how hot you're gonna look when you're free from all those pounds! I weigh 190, i used to be 280.... 4 MONTHS AGO! believe me this works Best of luck =^.^=

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Swimming - not only is it an all over work out, and a cardio work out all at the same time - but it is WAY better for your joints.

If you pick jogging - you probabbly won't be doing much walking when you are 60.

Whichever exercise you choose; it depends on the intensity and duration of the workout. If you swim laps like Mark Spitz, you are going to burn as many calories per minute as Lance Armstrong in the Tour, or a world class sprinter. It all adds up to simple calories burned, vs. calorie intake.
If you jog, ride a bike at a leisurely pace, or hang out at the pool, you probably won't burn many calories, and, consequently, won't lose much weight. Check your local library; there are many excellent books/videos/tapes on fitness/weight loss.

Really the fastest way is to tone or build muscle. Muscle burns fat, so I would say weightlifting but since its not on your list I'll say swimming and jogging. They both work muscles that most people don't normally use all the time, plus their both heavy activities .

For me, it's a combo of cycling (roller blading in my case), swimming during the summer months, and walking. The walking I do during my lunch break. The main thing is to watch your calorie and fat intake. I stopped drinking cokes completey and lost 15 pounds over a course of a year.

Drinking cold water will also help burn off the calories because your body has to heat the water up to your body temp.
