Highlights & Sesame Street. Both of these have "little kid" games, they can learn so much because they have so much to offer, and they also have a few pages for the parents that give ideas on small projects to build with simple supplies. Kids really enjoy these magazines.
Check your library, sometimes the have magazines that they give away.

Your Big Backyard- published by the National Wildlife Fereration

Go to: www.nwf.org Then click the title "magazine", and go down and click "Your Big Backyard". There it will give you more info about it, and how to suscribe. It is true to life, educational, real pictures of animals, and games you can play with your child. My preschooler loves it!!!!

p.s. someone else said "highlights", and it's a good one, but more for about 1st grade or up.

There are two Canadian childrens magazines that are excellent & wonderful. Both of my children loved them and reread them countless times. (one is an adult young lady now and my son is a teenager). i.e. the magazines are long established and running.
Google owl and also chickadee.

I recommend The Economist. National Enquirer could be traumatizing.
