The stereo didnt work when I got the car, but I was told it did. I can turn it on, see what station its on, change the station...everything but hear it. I had someone check the speakers and they said they were fine, I dont understand how the radio can come on but I cannot hear it. I dont think its the fuses because if they were bad, I wouldnt be able to see lights and channels

the speakers may be ok but the wires to them might not. check for continuity in the speaker wires go from the hookup end to the speaker end to do this.Do you know how? if not heres how take your multi meter set it on ohms put one meter lead on one end of the wire and at the same time put the other multi lead to the other end if it reads 0 you have a curcuit trade back and forth between the ends to assure your getting the rite ones. if you get any thing else you have resistance. thats a bad thing

Your radio has blown audio outputs. Its not uncommon for that to happen to any radio. There are no internal fuses in the radio that protects its output stage. Depending upon the year you maybe able to get the dealer to warranty it. If not than replace it. Metra has a real good dash kit and wire harness available that you can use to replace the factory stereo and get a nice looking finish. Also PAC makes an adapter to work with the factory steering wheel controls if you have it. Its a bit tricky to program though so you have to read the instruction well.
Metra Dash kit # 99-7502 (fits 2000-2005)
Metra harness # 70-7901 (fits 2000-2005)
PAC steering wheel adapter # SWIX
