I gained about 30-40 pounds each time. I had three pregnancies, about 25 years ago. The first two were boys, and the third was boy/girl twins. My pregnancies were always low and all out front. The twin pregnancy was very different from the beginning. As the doctor said, he could tell it was twins because I was carrying "high" and "low" both!! I do think that many women tend to carry all out front when it's a boy and to get kind of fat all around when it's a girl. But of course there are always exceptions.

With the boy I gained about 25-30 pounds. With the girl, I porked up so much that I started crying when I realized that I hadn't dropped any of the weight after I dropped her.
The old wives' tales did not apply in my situation. I knew from the gitgo that I was having a boy and that I was having a girl. I dreamed of them while I was pregnant. And they look just like how I imagined them.

My first girl I gained 80 lbs. with but I started out underweight. I was big all over and did not have a prominent belly. I am pregnant currently with my second girl. I have gained a total of 13 lbs so far and I started out slightly overweight. I have 8 days til my due date and a very round, prominent belly. My two pregnancies could not be more different and they're both female.

I gained 20 pounds and I had a little girl.

For me the wives tale was true, I carried my pregnancy very very low in my pelvis.
