Oh Yes ! I had it twice & really don't want it again. I have Lupus, I am a female & when it started the first time I thought my rib was broke the pain was so bad. It was in my right side the inflammation is in the tissue between the ribs. I tried all kinds of things, nothing seemed to work. I finally went to my chiropractor & he adjust my spine & wha-la the inflammation started to go down & after a few weeks I was better. Did the same thing the 2 nd time it happened. That was on my left side.

I too have costochondritis. I have had it for four years now. It's miserable. I feel for you. I have found this Yahoo Group to be very helpful - everyone on at the group is so kind and supportive. Ask any costo related question and you'll get answers. Go here to view the group:

I have been to doctor after doctor and haven't found much help from them. I have been told to just take "advil and aleve" and they just don't cut the pain. I find ice packs help me most b/c they numb the pain when applied. I have been to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL and all thought the doctors were super nice, they couldn't offer me much help. They ran tests on my heart and ruled that out being the cause of the pain which is good, but basically i've been told to live with costo. I do hope yours clears up and goes away - some have costo, others have 'chronic' costo. God bless!

Painful painful painful. Do you have associated Thyroid Disease? This would make your disease Tsetse Syndrome instead. I suggest OMT, warm compresses, warm baths, and sometimes anti-inflammatories. If you have underlying disease such as thyroid disease, please try to get it within normal limits with medications so that it minimizes the effects. You also have to be on the look out for a change in symptoms, instead of assuming it is just your rib joints hurting. If you experiance any change in symptoms assume it is your heart until it is ruled out.

I find that taking muscle relaxers has helped when it acts up. Ask your doctor.
