The British wore red coats becuase when a British soldier was killed they didnt want to see fellow British blood being spilt.America didnt make the world wars a victory they only came in-in the last couple of years but if they came in from the start they wouldnt of done so well. The British were doing fine and kicked the Germans out of North Africa and we stopped the Krauts from entering Britain all by ourselves,America came and heped they dint bail us out.Next time you Yanks say something get your history right first.
As for the British being famous in history for wars we only lost in 1066,The war of American Independence but we would of won if it didnt take weeks to sail troops across the ocean. We won the war of 1812,We lost to the Afgans so weve only lost about 2 but there might be 1 or2 more somewhere. Most Americans think that the British lost the Zulu war but actually we won but on lost the battle of Isanwana. If you think all through the History of Britain weve only lost about 2 or MAYBE 1or 2 more i think thats brilliant.
America lost in 1812 and the Vietnam war so we are about even but America was properly born in 1776.

I didn't know that they hated Great Britain. Don't know why. Of course history shows that Britain subjugated a lot of countries but it was, generally, a benign ruler. Most of the populace in these countries were far better off after the takeover be Britain.
Check it out. It is amazing the infra structure created in these countries such as railways, bridges, ports, markets and forms of local self government
Am not an apologist for Britain as a colonial power but if one takes a look at the other colonial powers and their terrible subjugation of the locals it is no contest.

No, they hate Britian so much because Britain systematically exploited most of the world's population for profit for centuries. You know, Drake and Raleigh privateering their way through the Spanish Empire, Cecil Rhodes divesting South Africa of her gold, Winston Churchill wiping out the Mau Mau to hold onto imperial Africa a little longer?
Admittedly, her military victories were critical to her in doing this, but to simply attribute the world's hostility to envy of military prowess would be very silly indeed. That would be like saying the Iraqis dislike Americans not because they are occupying their country, but because Americans are better in a firefight. It's incidental to the main point.

The British created the largest colonial empire in the world. That is not something to be proud of. Empire is antithetical to democracy. How many Indians, Kenyans, Sudanese, Irish, Scots, Welsh, Egyptians, and and South Africans died because of British imperialism? Probably millions. That is a shameful legacy. If it makes you feel better though the U.S. is hated at least 100x more than you are today.

As an American, I don't harbor any ill feelings about Britain. It produced some of the worlds greatest art, literature, and sitcoms!! The real question should be why do so many Brits hate America(ns) so much?

Actually, you are not as hated as you think, you are an American allie, and therefore the haters of America hate Britain by default. We Americans just pretend to hate you, like brothers do to each other. The one who hate Britain just on its own have other issues I guess, like the one you mentioned

I don't believe that's the answer. More than likely, as with the USA, it is because we are the haves and they are the have nots. And because they are the have nots, they want all that we have handed to them without having to lift a finger.
