It shows how absurd religion really is.

Sunis and shiites. Two groups of people who each want the other group dead because they don't believe in god in quite the same way as the other group believes in the same god.

If there is a god, and he lets this happen in his name, he's the biggest bastard in the history of the universe and I wouldn't want a damned thing to do with him.

As an atheist, I do not "hate" religious people, or anyone for that matter. The reason I speak out my views is that I believe (along with many other atheists) that the world is worse off with religion, and that it is completely man-made. Many horrible wars throughout history that have spilled blood of millions and millions of people are for what ??? Religious differences. CASE IN POINT: Israel and the Middle East today. 100% religious based. If Israel were Islaamic, there would be no conflict.

But your logic is completely flawed though. I do not believe in god by definition of the very word "atheist". Using your logic, it seems you could rationalize no one disbelieves in santa claus either.

It is Ironice. And it's also ironic that these people who both believe in God, go to war over religion. I just don't think God is happy about that.

I don't care what anyones religion is. I respect it. That doesn't mean I understand it, but I do respect it. I never question a persons religion. I don't know what is in their heart.

Theists believe in an intelligent being as God.

Atheists believe in an unknown Atheistic Process as God :)

So in a sense, both are religious. And yes, this is ironic ...

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

Cordially,
John

there are religious people who do bad things in the name of religion. Most wars faught in the world are over religion.
What Muslim would strap on a bomb if he knew this life was all there is. Know that he does that because some religious fanatic told him 70 virgins wait for him in heaven.
He was religious and faithful. and had a reward waiting for him in heaven. No way to prove he didn't so the others followed.
Both sides in a religious war fight because they no they are right.
Which one is right??

The key word in your question is RELIGIOUS.
There many religious people who pay lip service to God but in fact many of them worship their own god, not the God in heaven.

"Hate" is a strong word. I believe in God but not religion. If God wanted us to join a religion and worship him, He would have invented religion, but we invented religion and then said that is what God wants. Religion teaches people not to think for themselves. Is that what you want?

Organized religion in the end is nothing more that a system of beliefs.

Nah, its the differences in culture and beliefs within that they hate.

You can love a Ferrari and hate a Pinto...is that ironic because they're both cars?

no because haters of Christians are too prideful to admit that they sin, and they think they are better than God.

nope....i dont like religions and i believe in God....whats so ironic? why i don't like religion is because i believe they are all fake and i believe we don't have to go to church to believe in God...while the other half most likely believes they want to attend church or that they have to...idk the reason..but i dont think it's ironic
