Has anyone noticed that the vast majority of immigrants who are here (in the U.S.) are from Mexico? Why don't we have an immigration problem with illegals from Russia or South America or Canada? Well, obviously Canada is cool, but why is the problem mainly with Mexicans? Is it because we're so close to Mexico and it's easier to get here than it would be from Africa or Cuba, etc., or is the another underlying reason?

And one more question...

Is it really THAT hard to get out of Mexico and get your US citizenship? If not, why not do it the right way like most other foreigners do?

OK...i'm asking a legitimate question here. Not looking for racial slurs...only info. Thanks.

OK, I wasn't targeting Mexicans specifically...just using them as an example because of all the news lately.

Secondly, (and I'm sorry...I can't remember your name) I would like to meet ONE illegal immigrant who is serving in our military or who owns a store/business of any type. You can't do either of those without being a citizen of the US! (Can't get a social security number).

the reason that this immigration problem is mostly a mexican problem is because:

one mexicans are more easily identifable by the color of their skin, their language, the way the dress, and the fact the many don't assimilate well into u.s. culture and customs..... you say that we don't have a "problem" with canada... well in fact you are wrong.... canadians do cross over illegally but how would you tell the difference between canadians and americans.... they look the same!!!! and i also think you confuse south americans with mexicans... they are get grouped together.... a large portion of illegal immigrants come from south american up to mexico and across the border into the u.s.a.

the reason why mexicans come to the united states and not any other country is quite simple.... you have a third world country next to the richest country in the world.... if you wanted a better life all you would have to do is cross the border.....

and for your question with regard to why mexicans don't just go through the process of becoming a legal immigrant as opposed to risking their lives coming over illegally.... 2 reasons: one- many who come over are poor and will never be able to afford the price of becoming a legal citizen in the united states and two: when you don't have enough money to feed your kids and support your family yet you are working 60 hours per week making almost nothing..... you tend to look at any viable options unfortunately..... that includes leave all the you know and risking your life to try to make a livable wage in the u.s.a.

I think thats all the hype. There are many many many other illegals from all over the world who dodge beyond the radar in the US. I think its a media and government concocted scare about Mexicans. For instance, do you really think half of the taxi drivers in New York came to the country using legal means? What about all the extended families of Indians that own a ton of **** in the US? The Chinese who own most all businesses in the inner city? You think they all got in the US legally? It is very difficult to get US citizenship or even get a green card yet there are so much diversity of all immigrants in most of our border cities all over the US. And those immigrants add to the economy of the US more than you know. So stop targeting the Mexicans and accept the fact that all the immigrants that you have in the US is adding to the military, the infrastructer of the country, and in general to the economy. By the way, who would serve in the US military if it wasnt for immigrants? If you look at the demographics of the military, the immigrant population that serves is huge. In fact, in the unit that Im in, I would say the whites are the minority. So Id say that Immigrants put their heart and soul in to the US. What is everyone so afraid of?

The reason we have the problem with the Mexicans is because the majority of Illegals are Mexican. It is simple. We also have a problem with their resistance to assimilate and learn our language. We have a problem with them having multiple children even though they can't feed them. We have a problem with their gangs and lack of common sense. We have a problem that they do not value cleanliness and order. We have a problem that they do not value education, art, and western culture. We have a problem that they DO NOT want to become Americans. I honestly think that if they wanted to become Americans, they would be welcomed with open arms.
I can't think of another group of illegals that are demanding rights and preffered treatment. There are millions of Indian immigrants that are here too, we have no problem with them because they are a self sufficient group that blends into our culture( I guess from the years of British colonization) I have never heard of out of control Hindu gangs terrorizing cities around the US. I don't see Asians lined up at the welfare offices and gathering on street corners waiting to be picked up by greedy contractors. We simply don't have these problems with other large groups of immigrants in the US. So, it makes sense to deduct that the majority of the problems associated with illegal immigration lies upon the majority of Illegals... Mexican and Central Americans. There are many problems in the north east with legal immigrants from Puerto Rico and The Dominican Republic. It makes one question why some immigrant groups have no problems assimilating and others(latinos) refuse to do so. Why are these groups so determined not to become Americans. What is so great about their countries? If it was so great why did they come here any way.

Okay, yes it is very hard. To come here legally from Mexico it costs a lot of money and can take up to 6 or 7 years! I know this because I have friends who have had to wait this long. Most of the people who come here from Mexico come to make a better life for their families. They don't have years to wait while they're children are starving to death, and they don't have the money to spend! So, instead they walk for days through the deserts enduring things we've never had to endure, and come here illegally to make a good life for themselves. When they get caught here they are sent back like dogs, dropped off across the border with no means of survival. My husband is currently in this situation and he has been ripped away from his 11 month old daughter and I have been left to support her on my own. Now tell me this country is humane and always puts the children first....

Yes, honey, it is that hard, it' s not like at all like the US were you just present your birth certificate and say I want to travel and you get your passport. To be a US Citizen you have to either be born here or be a legal immigrant for a number of years. To even get a tourist visa, you have to have a lot of maoney, a bank account, with a certain amount of money in it, proof that you can sustain yourself (financially) while traveling, you have to own land and all kinds of other ridiculous requirements that are set. That is why most immigrants have no choice but to enter illegally, it is nearly impossible to acquire a visa from Mexico to travel anywhere.

Yes, it is because you are very close to Mexico. Russian go to western europe and places that are closer to them, they cannot just cross a river and get into the US. South America is very far from the US if you haven't noticed, look at a world map you'll see that England is closer to the US than Argentina is.

And regarding your last question. do you think if it was easy to get a US citizenship for Mexicans, or even a tourist visa, they would risk dying in the desert, drowning in the river, or getting shot by precocious ejaculators (isn't that what Minutemen are named after?)

It is because it is easier. you don't get any ppl from canada because they like it there, but you get all these mexican and south american people because we're close to them. Like, you won't get an illegal immigrant from sudan jumping the border, will you? It's geographically impossible.

From what I have heard it is really difficult to get even a passport from mexico. That is why they jump the fence...so to speak. Also there are other people (from different countries) who go to Mexico then jump the fence to U.S.A. because it is easier.
