doesn't over heat in traffic or on the highway? if its ok on the highway check your fan clutch if its not locking up the air flow might not be enough to cool the engine if its over heating on the highway or both could be the head gaskets was the coolant a sludgy brown when you started and double check the new thermostat just because its new doesn't mean its good

I,m with JOHN R on this one, make sure your radiator fan clutch is working and not just free wheeling all the time and also make sure that there is no air trapped in the cooling system. With engine off crack a heater hose loose near the heater core and pour anti freeze in until it starts to come out the disconnected hose. And the cooling fan should become noticeably louder when the engine is warm and if you shut the engine off it should feel stiffer to turn than it does cool. Good luck.

After all the repairs/ replacements, did you put straight coolant, or did you mix it as recommended by the maker? Straight anti-freeze can cause overheating in the summer.
Good luck,

did you try flushing it out?if not,go to the parts store and get some flush and run through it,it will bring the rust and scales out of your cooling system, could be clogged up.

you have problems because it is a dodge van . Dodge and plymouth made good cars but every van ive owned was bad my advice is to salvage it and buy a van made by ford or chevrolet.
