I sometimes wonder that, while sitting in the fast lane (left hand lane), stuck in traffic while other lanes are moving past.
I feel it's because people in the left lane are waiting to long to make there way to the exit, and end up stopping traffic looking for an opportunity in the next lane, but I don't know if that is true.

Actually I don't think we have a passing lane here. I know in Texas, the left lane is only used for passing (you can't continously drive in that lane) and is called a passing lane, but where I live the lane is not used like that at all and we just call it the fast lane.

Technically, the left lane isn't the "fast lane", it's the "passing lane". It's meant to be used to pass, then merge back into one of the other lanes.

The reason is because everyone THINKS it is the fast lane.. but you always end up with that idiot that is clogging up traffic because he wants to get over and no one will let him because everyone is trying to pass him because he is going so slow.
It is really annoying here because it is only a four lane interstate.. so you get a big rig that pulls out to pass one slow car and it slows the whole passing lane down! The speed limit is 70.. but there is no way you can set your cruise to that because the traffic speed changes every second.. AGH! Just thinking about it is pissing me off!! LOL.. I think I need a beer now :)

It is not the "fast lane" it is called the passing lane, that is the biggest misconception about driving. Whatever the posted speed limit is, it applies to both lanes

if everyone tries to get in the left lane then its going to go slower because there are too many people. also some people just don't want to go fast in the left lane because they are jerks.

because some as#@$les don't know the meaning of "SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT".That pisses me off sooooooo bad
